thor or cap. ss was powerful, but thor was CRAZY tough with time control and matter manip, and powers made up regularly. cm was also uber--pretty much unbeatable. i say thor over him though because cm still only really had a human enemy, while thor's foes were truly uber....

hulk and supes were WAAAYYYYYYYYY below the others.

I haven't read that far back in regards to Captain Marvel so I can't comment.

Thor >>>>> Surfer. At least under Lee. Thor was the most powerful hero bar none when push came to shove.

Supes originally was like spiderman level in strength right? He couldn't fly or anything.

Yeah, Spidey/Luke Cage level.

If we take his early hyperbole into account his stats were something like this:

Class 50-Low Class 100 strength (more powerful than a locomotive)
Low Class 100 durability (nothing short of an artillery shell could so much as scratch him)
Able to leap hundreds of feet (able to leap tall buildings in a single bound)
Able to run at transonic/low-super sonic speeds (faster than a speeding bullet)

Surfer flew through a supernova in his very first appearance

Sounds like savage hulk type stats...

What are Thor and Cap first appearance feats?

I don't know about Cap, but Thor fought off some rock aliens who were around Thing level

Based on feats he was Spider-Man/Luke Cage I mean.

Hyperbole he was more than that though.

hmm, if we're using JUST first appearance, that might change things a bit. thor wasn't all that physically impressive in his very first appearance. marvel also didn't fully embrace the whole mytholgical aspect of the character until shortly after his first appearance. i think he fought some aliens in jim 83. nothing too spectular i don't think. as far as displayed power, not entirely sure. the book is a little out of my pay grade.

They've made reprints you know

Hard to judge whether Surfer or Cap tops the list...

Well I thought we were going by their first few showings.

Are we using their very first issue as a basis? That changes things.

that was my thinking too. within a few issues, thor began to take on his more 'godly' aspects. marvel was granted the power of zeus from the start, but really only fought shivago, so no real feats to speak of i don't think. if we use first appearance only, and base it off feats, it would be ss, no doubt.

pfft. reprints are for chumps.

Strict boxing rules?

I think BA would get disqualified early on for fighting dirty.

Despite being an amazing brawler and more skilled of a fighter than Teth (If nothing else he has better showings of skill) Thor finds the rules of boxing etc. strange. Not sure if Teth is any better. I wouldn't be surprised if either of them got disqualified early on.

Thor wins. He takes a page out of this guys' book.
