I love shooters by the way ! But they haven't evolved a lot since the days of let's say Doom or Quake. Nicer graphics, a vehicle you can drive... that's about it.

Concerning the graphics, they look rather "brownish" and "greenish" if you know what I mean. It's not exactly Elder Scrolls Oblivion with it beautiful colors.

Of course, I have to actually play it before I can judge. But based on what I saw : very sharp graphics but pretty boring colors.

You rarely see a game that justifies the hype. It's impossible for a game like Gears Of War, Half Life 2, Doom or Halo 2. Somebody will find something to hate.

Your mistaken if you say your an shooter fan and that shooters have evolved since the days of Quake. Take Quake, play it, then take Half Life, then play that and see how much a difference that game is in terms of narrative, storyline, gameplay and AI. Or take a game like FEAR and see the difference compared to Quake. Shooters have evolved so drastically since the old days.

Go play Zelda, or Mario or any kid's game if you want bright colours.

But overall, every game in any genre is just another genre game. The difference is that Gears Of War is a very well made shooter.

Well, the theme of the game is "destroyed beauty". Dunno what kinda colors you're expecting, but videos only show a small portion of the game, there are supposed to be areas with great variety. I know there is at lest one "forest level" type.

1. Just in general. I'm not talking about you, but people will find something they dont like because of the hype, but people who are looking forward to this game are not jumping onto the hype wagon because the game is very good. Just check the reviews of it. Mostly all publications say its a very damn good game.

2. Aside from that actual gunplay, all shooters are competly different than Quake and beyond. Scripted events changed the FPS genre on its heels. It provided what most shooters have today, and thats cinema like gameplay.

3. What are you talking about? Play AVP2, play No One Lives Forever 1&2, play Half Life 2, play FEAR., play Chronicles Of Riddick, play Jedi Knight. All are not just about saving the world. It might the overall theme in most FPS, but if you play the game, the narrative of the game is more complex than what Doom provided, or Quake.

4. You said beautiful colours, not bright, but considering that usually means bright.

5. I am right. Check out the reviews for the game.

Dooms Day should look like the Mushroom Kindom 😆 Amazing what people will say to try and not like a game. Jeez, atleast try to find something worth crying about.

Hah, we got our shipment today about noon - the district manager actually went to the airport and picked it up.

We had no extras at all and they screwed up and only sent a quarter of the collector's edition. The phone was literally ringing every 30 seconds with people asking if we had it.

We ended up taking the phone off the hook a couple times just so we could get some peace 😂

I don't really have any, I've never been a fan of shooters so I'm basically "meh" about it.

Might get a 360 next year, don't know if I'll get this game. Because as I said, I'm not really a fan of shooters.

My copy finally arrived! I call the guy at my local EB Games and said that it has arrived. But only the Collectors Edition. They just need to take inventory and I can pick up my copy!

Well, today is only the ship date. The majority of stores won't have it in until tomorrow.

I'll pick it up tomorrow after class. My reserved copy's waiting for me, just too busy to pick it up but i can't wait to get it..

Anyway, Never trust a Gamecrazy store! They lied and said they were holding them now the bastards! but then today they said opps, tomorrow; so I gotta pick it up tomorrow. Gamestop and Ebgames are probably break dancing with copies but I can't change stores because I preordered it at the nasty Crazy store (Because it was closer) 🙁

I have to wait until Christmas to get Gears of War.. and Xbox 360 itself God damnit. This is going to be the longest holiday season ever, maybe even longer than 2001.
