Crysis

Yeah, same here.

There's actually some TOD mods out there that make the original game look and run better. Just found them recently.

I heard about those.

The first time I played it the patches weren't out yet so the second time through I played with high all the time. That's also with my cards actually working SLI (which I thought they werent when I played the first time). The biggest difference was the difficulty level. It was alot more enjoyable when regular enemies took 1 shot in the head instead of 5 pre patch version. It totally took away the bad assery of the character when I sneak around and shoot somebody and it takes 5 hits. It was annoying.

The second time was much better. Played it completely different and I really mean that. The scene on where you blow up the cruiser was alot easier and cooler. Instead of trying to sneak around and getting blown away by the impossible enemies that wouldnt die. I snuck around and didnt get caught until the very last enemy. It was soo fun.

Thats the difference between this game and a game like Call of Duty 4. I can play Crysis every year for the next 3 years (while still looking awesome I might add) and always be enjoyable (except the ship level) because I would do something completely different. Even when facing against the aliens after the ship, I didnt kill one until I meet up with Prophet. I snuck by them. With COD4, the second time through was more like, " oh wait, I totally forgot to move forward because they keep on respawning and I have to blow up that antiaircraft gun.....always a bloody AA gun.

Anyways, hearing that the aliens in Warhead will be similar to how the Korean part of the game works is interesting. It wont be heavily scripted like before but you can do totally different things with aliens around.

Got Warhead today. It's awesome. I like it quite a bit more than Crysis. The new weapons are great and it's a lot more action packed.

Graphics are better and it does run better. Not hugely, seems like I get about a 5fps constant higher than what I got in Crysis. Doesn't sound like much but it does make a pretty big difference.

Its even got Psycho, the real power behind special forces being a Brit, so ill feel more formidable.

What are you playing at?

I assume high and higher rezes?

Im picking this up after Friday's class. Too much school work to do and been playing through Rock Band 2. I want to have a good playthrough that so I'm probably going to do one chunk.

I play at high at my native res -- 1650x1050 or something.

Same as I played through Crysis. Just runs and looks better.

Yeah, so for me I should have a really good time with it considering I have a slighty better computer than you do, and I dont play that high of a resolution.

Yeah, with sli I'd imagine you could play at Enthusiast (the new name for Very High).

Unfortunately once you get to the ice levels the performance drops off again. Not quite as badly this time, I still played through it at high.

EDIT: Yeah dude, you'll definitely be able to play at the highest settings. I just tried it myself and it's actually totally playable. I get about 20fps (before the ice level that is) at my native res. So you should be able to max this baby out no problem.

Hopefully, Im looking forward to it.

Ill trade lower rez for more eye candy any day.

I tried enthusiast with your res and got a solid 30 fps most of the time.

Anyways, I beat the game yesterday, it was pretty awesome. Really action packed. No downtime in this one.

And I loved that they actually give you a lot of Scar ammo this time. You can use it throughout the entire game without worrying about running low on ammo.

Yeah, the SCAR would run out very quickly in the other game.

But the shotgun was the beast in Crysis. The area where you first get attacked by the nano suit guys, the first time it took awhile. In the second time, I just cloaked my way to a little building that had a view of the whole cementary and then just saw them casually walking through vegatation to find me.

Awesome part was how I could see them from the bushes moving because they were cloaked. Anyways, the shotgun made quick work of them.

Shotgun was great, yeah. But I usually like the assault rifle type weapons.

Yeah, I do too.

I thought the Guass rifle was pretty cool also.

But the minigun, useless.

Yeah.

Now that you mention it, the minigun isn't even in Warhead I think. I didn't come across it once.

The Guass rifle is great. You get that a lot in Warhead, and you can hold 40 shots of ammo for it instead of 20 like in the first game.

Been playing it.

I dont know about you but its slow as shit for me at gamer level.

Even medium is not as smooth as expected.

Maybe my computer is ****ing up somewhere but it shouldnt be worst than the original because I played on hard all the way through.

This is bullshit.

Try playing it in DX9 mode. It's more stable. Simply rightclick on the desktop icon for Warhead and click "Play DX9".

The graphics are the same quality, but it runs much better.

Before you do this though, right click on the desktop icon and scroll down to customize. Click it and a new window will pop up with 'play' 'playDX10' and 'playDX9'. Highlight the playDX9 and click edit down at the bottom of the window. Another window will pop up. Click the 'compatability' tab and check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and then choose 'windows XP service pack 2'.

I think something was running in the background, because I came back to it and it worked pretty good.

It only hiccups during the ice stages.

I was just a little pissed because it was fiddling around with the graphics sliders, with numerous crashes and the game has an annoying habit of starting off kilter when it comes to the menu screen. (You cant move your cursor for a 1/4 of the screen and each button on the menu cannot be pushed when directly over top of it) for a couple of hours

In the end though, I'm playing at high resolution on gamer at about 35 FPS during less active sessions. Medium is incredibly smooth.

Good game so far. Your entirely right, its very action oriented and I'm somewhat playing like that also.

And that bug where you can't click the buttons happened to me the first time I started the game, never since.

I'd still suggest trying to play in DX9 mode. It should give a boost of about 5-10 fps.

Okidokie.

Tried it the DX9 way, it was really slow and I had alot of graphical glitches.
