It is certainly because of this fight that he should retire. It's blatantly obvious that his body just isn't reacting the same way it did years ago. Roy Jones Jr. is going through the same shit. Ali went through the same shit too.You can't be the same guy at 40. It just doesn't happen. Time catches up with everyone.
That was about as strange as George St Pierre showing up and pulling guard.

Then again, Rich broke his arm and still laid Chuck out.

Some of you misunderstand me. I have absolutely no qualms if he decides to retire, but I don't see a necessarily huge problem with this particular performance. Rich is a great fighter and had a good shot at beating Chuck even in Chuck's prime. Aside from the unfortunate glass chin, Chuck seemed to fair well. Well, that and the dumb decision to go on the offensive. That was about as strange as George St Pierre showing up and pulling guard.
This performance absolutely reaffirms the fact that Liddell needs to retire. Even though he still has the KO power, he was visibly slower, in terms of movement speed and reflexes/reaction, his combinations weren't as crisp, and as stated multiple times before, his chin is absolutely decimated. Back in his prime, he would've taken that little awkward right hook from Rich and smiled. If anything, I think the fact that Chuck was winning that round says more about how Rich is lacking, rather than Chuck looking good. Put the '10 version of Chuck Liddell up against the Chuck of '04-'05 and see what would happen.
Also, lmao @ Rich Franklin having a good shot at beating prime Liddell. While Rich was fighting guys like Shamrock,Tanner, and Quarry, Chuck was knocking out guys like Overeem, Couture, Tito, and Babalu. Rich would have gotten owned.
Anyway, Chuck is done. I absolutely hate it, but we have to face facts. Time catches up with everyone.

I'm not seeing your point here. Rich represents a different challenge and may have exposed Chuck earlier than Rampage did.
I said it before, but I think I've been misunderstood. I'm not defending Chuck and I haven't defended any of his other losses if I recall correctly. I just don't see his last fight as the reason for him to retire. That said, I've no problems with him retiring. I wouldn't be very disturbed either. I've no real feelings towards or against Chuck as a fighter to be honest.

Idk, he broke his foot too, though.
