Called it for the main event fight.

^But then you did a CYA move by saying "but would not be surprised". If you would have said "Cain by TKO in the first round, no doubts, if's, and's or but's about it" then, yeah that would be calling it.

Hey, I got the 3000th post. Just realized.

And yeah, in large numbers we have this supernatural ability to transfer our life-essence into another like a conduit. So Cain didn't win, it was the collective hive-mind of all the other Mexicanos in the arena who won through him. And his "we did it" comment was a veiled "thank you".

I was quoting the words directly, but it looks weird in my sentence.

I wonder if that would count as a performance enhancer. 😂

You mean like I did with Shields? ha-som

I could see Shields winning in that same exact grind-fest fashion a mile away.

Anyway, it looked as if the weight-cut hurt him a lot. As we saw in the Henderson fight, a healthy, well-hydrated Shields has no problem grapple f*cking somebody for 5 rounds.

Big John is an awful ref.

LOL true true, but on the UFC fantasy I got it exactly right.

And congrats on the post count.

So did all of you guys come to the arena in the same car?

I guess they have personal issues lol

The stand ups in the Lawlor fight were ridiculous.

Separating Kampmann and SHeilds when Kampy had him in a thai clinch.

Both Kamp and Shields were holding the shorts but he only warned Shields that he was going to deduct points

He was telling Shields that he needs to work when he already had Kampmanns back lol

I'm being harsh, but the other refs were on top of their game tonight.

Herb Dean is a thorough ref though.

Remember when Frank Mir snapped Tim Sylvia's arm with that armbar? Well, Herb Dean was the ref. I saw it coming, but it seemed like Dean actually wanted to wait for it.

Meh, Tim wasn't tapping, so there wasn't much he could do in that scenario.

You could see it, but I prophesied it.

I agree. Most of the UFC-only crowd doesn't know that Jake Shields was already one of the top fighters in the world. He absolutely schooled Henderson, which a much larger Rampage couldn't do. Shields looked fresh the entire time, and last night he was about to pass out. I hope he can resolve the weight dropping issue; I really have a lot of matches I want to see him fight. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing him back at middleweight either.

👆 I noticed that too.

I remember him saying "work" when Shields was doing a guard pass.

I guess you skipped the part where I said "from a mile away."

I knew exactly what was going to happen.

I guess you missed the part where I am always right no matter what.

Ran across this pic and figured it went along with this statement.

There are so many smileys nowadays that it's hard to tell what emotion some of them are trying to convey.

Well to be fair, UFC is the only MMA organization that really matters. The UFC is like the NFL, and the other fighting companies are more like college and arena football.

There's a reasons that the UFC is the most famous and that everyone is trying to get into it. The others will never attract the crowds or celebs in the audience that UFC does. They're just a step below.

That sounds exactly like what a "UFC only" would say. uhuh

In all seriousness though, UFC has become the most important organization recently; however, it is not the only one that matters.

Even now, there are fighters from other organizations that many believe are actually better than some current UFC champions. There's even more non-UFC fighters that are considered top tiers. For a recent example, look at Carlos Condit. Many people have Dan Hardy ranked around #4 WW, but Carlos completely laid Dan the **** out.

Many fighters refuse to join UFC due to Dana's desire to completely own all aspects of his fighters, and even UFC fighters have expressed discontent with Dana. It sucks, but there are great inter-organizational fights that we will probably never see.

Yeah, apparently a lot of their fighters bump heads with Dana soon after signing on. I have a nephew from Yuma who went to high school with and wrestled with Efrain "Hecho en Mexico" Escudero and Edgar Garcia. He saw Efrain this past weekend in Yuma, and he tells me that Efrain went over to Bellator all because he had a falling out with the UFC bigwigs. And it had something to do with his image and the way Dana wanted to mold it.

I think part of it has to do with their ring-names. A lot of MMA fans who don't like UFC accuse them of turning into a celebrity sport with gimmicks, similar to pro-wrestling. Along with all the pre-fight testosterone posturing, trash-talk and dick-wagging in the promos that they use to advertise the upcoming fights.
