Bisping does not deserve shot any time soon imo. He hasn't really had any real great wins, his skill level is not all too good and he's coming off of a loss. I say give it to Weidman, he's earned it.

I don't Bisping deserves a shot yet either, but he could if beat some top 10s. I actually am fine with Weidman getting the title shot. I am just saying I am not sure if he could actually beat Anderson yet.

Rashad is if anything maybe even a little smaller than Anderson. And you really think Anderson will be able to prevent GSP taking him down at will and keeping him down there? Unlike Chael he the gap in the standup is a lot closer and GSP will have all the time in the world to set up at TD.

They aren't vastly different in size, but Rashad is slightly heavier than Anderson. 5-10 lbs or so iirc. As for GSP, it's like I said. He definitely has advantages. Anderson only needs one opening to end a fight though, which is the problem with trying to grind out decisions on him.

IMO, GSP should come out of the closet (professionally) already. He's rich enough where the minor financial backlash won't hurt him t hat much.

IMO GPS is the perfect antithesis of Anderson's style. His standup is style is tailor made to counter Anderson's, and his strong point (wrestling) is the biggest hole in Anderson's game... and unlike the wrestlers Anderson has faced GSP isn't likely to get subbed while he is holding Silva down. Anderson makes his bones by counter punching brawling head hunters who push the pace and rush him, where his perfect timing, precision and hand speed easily wins out. GSP isn't a lumbering brute, he isn't an "in your face fighter" who will rush in (irony) and bang. He is a point fighter who relies on hand speed and precision to pepper his opponents, works angels and set up take downs. The only time Georges has tried throwing those wide looping overhand rights hunting trying for a knock out was against Shields... and that was because he was blind in one eye and didn't have the depth perception needed for his standard precision point fighting. Wrestling wise, I don't think GSP would have any trouble holding Silva down, by all accounts Georges is a freakishly strong WW, 15lbs isn't all that much to begin with (ignoring the fact GSP would bulk up for the fight anyway) and Silva isn't exactly praised for his strength or ability to get back up. I see GSP grinding out a decision, like he always does.

Or maybe Anderson knocks him out with a front kick to the face in round one.

Probably the latter.

Agreed, it's the most likely scenario. Why GSP will never go up in class and prays every day to the French-Canadian gods that Silva will never drop down.

Anderson has only ever done that against someone who was a the aggressor and b engaging him with striking (well boxing) alone and trying to stay on the inside. Against someone who as srank said is more of a technical striker, will try to stay on the outside and won't be as aggressive, it's far less likely he coulkd ever dream of pulling something like that off.

Srank made a very good point actually. GSP would probably be the most technical striker Anderson has ever faced and he wouldn't find it anywhere near as easy to pick him apart and finish him as he would a brawler like Dan Henderson for example.

GSP is also I think a much better wrestler than even Chael Sonnen, has much better cardio and will not be vulnerable to submissions. So in general he is just very bad matchup for AS. He will land TDs at will and be able to do so all 25 rounds. He will not be as outmatched and vulnerable in the standup. He will be able to control him as easily as Chael did, and yet not get submitted. GSP would definitely grind out decision against AS in my mind there is no question about it.

But this brings me to another question I had, who do you think is P4P the best MMA wrestler in the UFC? This might surprise some people but I actually think it might be Frankie Edgar. He has been able to take down everyone he has been up against at will, including BJ Penn with his legendary TD defence against much bigger guys, let alone smaller guys. Frankie is probably an entire weight class smaller and he took him down with more ease imo than GSP.

Predictions:

Urijah Faber def. Renan Barao by TKO
Hector Lombard def. Tim Boetsch but he will not look impressive doing so.
Nick Ring def. Court McGee

Faber & Lombard FTW. I'm honestly more interested in Faber/Barao than I was for Faber/Cruz. Cruz is a bit of a decision king.

And people were thinking that Lombard was a threat to Silva? LMAO

Guy looked terrible. Learn how to throw a jab you neanderthal or go back to Bellator and beat up soup cans.

He did look awful. I'm hoping it was debut nervousness. Faber apparently doesn't know how to go for broke & his corner didn't seem to tell him he needed to.

Yeah, Lombard.....I don't even know what that was about. He just stood, flat footed, for most of the fight waiting for a KO to politely present itself. Maybe he thought he was winning on points or something.

Nick Ring looked pretty decent until he gassed. He still managed to win, but I hope he ups his cardio.

With Barao's victory, I gotta ask. How do you all think he matches up against Cruz? I'm undecided right now, although I lean towards Cruz.

I think Barao was partly a good stylistic matchup for Faber, as he basically used the same gameplan as Jose Aldo that proved so effective against him. Faber was a bit more tentative against him then he was in the Cruz fight.

If you look at the overall stats for the two fights, Cruz outstruck Faber by a greater marjin than Barao did. He also did so over all 5 rounds, whereas in the fifth round Barao and Faber were even for strikes. Cruz also outgrappled Faber, scoring 4 takedowns to Faber's one, and reversing Faber's takedown immediately. He did so both with the surprise shooting takedown and also the overpowering one, and the kind that cause damage.

The only difference is that Faber actually managed to land a few strikes in the fight against Cruz that seemed to have him rocked or make him lose his balance, but the fact of the matter he was not able to capitalise on those moments with either a finish or getting into a better position. I think he partly only landed those strikes because he was adopting a sort of strategy which he has stated where he would happily eat a few punches to land a big one of his own and that he doesn't fear Cruz's power, obviously something he didn't do against Barao and something Barao would be unlikely to do himself, as he's a more technical striker and would probably consider it beneath him.

So I think Cruz would definitely take Barao, 9/10 times. I think he wins a decision and I wouldn't see Barao being able to finish him considering how hard he is to hit for the most part and his grappling game. Cruz doesn't really have a suspect chin either.

I also could see Dominick Cruz taking Barao down. He is better grappler than any of the guys Barao has been up against so far and unlike them he has the puzzling striking syle that will keep Barao guessing. So I could see Cruz falling back on that if the striking was ever close for example. I think it'll be a great fight regardless, these are definitely the two top BWs.

That doesn't mean he isn;t itneresting or exciting his style is like one weve never see before and I could watch him fight all day.

Also totally awesome that Logan and Rachelle are back! 😄

Arianny, Brittney, Logan, Rachelle and Natasha = 😍

So Dana White was saying that apparently the guy who looks more impressive out of the two winners of the Machida/Bader and Shogun/Vera fights will probably get the next shot against Jones. I'm thinking it will probably be Shogun as I see him finishing Vera spectacularly whereas Machida probably wins the decision against Bader though every one of Machida's finishes have all looked beautiful. Still not sure if Shogun will have anything to offer Jones that he didn't last time but I'd always be rooting for him. Machida/Jones rematch could be interesting but I sadly see Jones winning with a finish again. His wrestling will always be a big threat even with Machida's great TDD as is his striking. All Jones really needs to do is land a takedown or a good shot and he will go for the finish which he is really good at getting, whereas Machida's chances would be to defend all the TDs and also outstrike him, which is certainly possible but he only has to make a single mistake or Jones simply need to outmuscle him with a TD and the fight can all be over. Plus there is also the 1/10 chance that machida connects with a spectacular move and gets the finish,m which would be AWESOME!

lol @ Shogun coming out to The Naked Famous - Young Blood.

facepalm

Flawless performance by Machida. Really glad he's getting the next shot against Henderson. Hand movements were epic lol.

Brandon Vera looked better than I think a lot of what people expected from him but tbh Shogun would have probably been a lot more dominant if he didn't tire so quickly. Plus aside from the guillotine I don't think Brandon Vera was ever close to threatening him.

Overall great card.

Really funny video:

So...Ronda Rousey wins by armbar.....again.

Not to take anything from her, but how have all six of her pro fights ended in arm bar? You'd think someone would be able to stop it by now? Anyways, looking forward to rematches with Kaufman and Tate down the road. I'm guessing Alexis Davis gets the next shot.

Cyborg's suspension will be lifted soon though. I wonder if she could make a cut to 135.

Ronda would have to go up to 145 imo.
