Randy Couture (Pictures) vs. Gabriel Gonzaga (Pictures)
Round 1
Gonzaga tags Couture with a right hand. Couture answers with a right and left of his own. Couture rips Gonzaga to the mat but the Brazilian works to his feet. Gonzaga lands a right kick to the face but Randy shakes it off. Couture lifts Gonzaga high into the air and slams him to the mat. Gonzaga's nose is bleeding heavily. Gabriel hurts Couture with a right hand, but the champion clinches against the cage. Gonzaga's nose appears to be broken. 90 seconds remain in the round. Couture gets bust with dirty boxing, throwing short punches against the fence. Left hand lands for Couture. Elbow lands for Couture. Gonzaga's face is bleeding horribly. 10-9 for Couture.
Round 2
Gonzaga's nose continues to leak as the second round begins. Randy shoots in looking for a takedown, but the Brazilian fights it off. Gonzaga complains that he cannot see, so Herb Dean lets the doctors check him out. The fight is restarted in the same position after he is cleared. Gonzaga grips the fence as Couture tries to throw him to the mat. Dean takes a point. Couture is absolutely dominating with dirty boxing and knees. Wild right uppercut scores for the champ. Gonzaga hits a knee to the body. 10-8 Couture.
Round 3
Gonzaga lands a right head kick. Couture answers with a right hand. Crushing head kick lands for Gabriel, but Randy's still standing. Couture trips Gonzaga to the mat and quickly takes mount. The champion pounds away until Dean steps in. Couture is victorious at 1:37 of the third.
Randy takes a ****ing head kick shruggs it off and still whupps Gonzaga's a$$.
Randy is the "man".
Couture showed some good striking and clinched Gonzaga against the cage for most of the match. He used close up striking and really bloodied Gonzaga. Randy also scored a nice take down when he completely lifted Gonzaga airborne and slammed him. In the process, Randy also seems to have broken Gonzaga's nose. Gonzaga tried to get a break by yelling that he couldn't see because of the blood. In the end, Couture to ground and pounded Gonzaga and the ref stopped the fight.
St Pierre vs Koscheck was very entertaining as well. Pierre pretty much dominated Josh though. Josh isn't quite at the top contender level yet, but he will be soon I predict.
Huerta vs Crane was magnificent. It just goes to show you that you need a well rounded game in MMA. Crane's jui-jutsu got him up to this point, but Huerta just kept escaping submission attempts and beat the hell out of Crane. It was very Fedor-esque.

Did GSP finish Josh?
I highly recommend the Huerta vs Crane fight still though. If you ever get the chance to watch it. Seeing Huerta escape from so many crazy submission attemtps is just too awesome.

No, he won via decision. Josh did very well though for his first fight at this level. The strange thing is, everyone thought GSP would only dominate the stand up and would lose on the ground. When the match started, GSP immediately took Josh down and dominated him at Josh's own game. This will make Josh realize how much he'll need to step his game up as he moves on to higher competition.I highly recommend the Huerta vs Crane fight still though. Huertas got my respect. He was awesome last night, he beat the crap of of Crane and using the big screen to check Crane's position was pretty smart!
I love watching Couture fight. I get so happy for him when he wins!
Originally posted by StyleTimeHuerta vs Crane was probably one of the best fights last night. Crane's jiujitsu is incredible. if he just had more power, and cardio, he could have won that fight in so many ways. Great job to Huerta for his improvement.
