I thought that too at first. From what I understand he said he was giving the ref the thumbs up. James Thomspon also said he did not tap out. If you look real closely at the video on youtube you can see he really was giving the thumbs up.

Just watched it. Pretty crappy. If Thompson had more power he wouldve finished him on round 2. Terrible stoppage(rd.3). Kimbo wont survive any of the top names.

I think the ratings were due to the novelty of it. I know I (and others) won't tune in to another show until they up the quality and remove the excess idiotic showmanship.

One-hit wonder, imo, unless they make it legitimate, not the dog and pony showe we saw the other night.

Reminds me of the XFL. Great ratings on opening night. Tanked after that. The only thing that may help it is if it stays on CBS since there are no other fights on primetime, everything is on cable.

The fights were really good btw, the problem was how the officials ended them.

the fights were awful compared to what i've seen from other organizations. All that productions value should have gone to signing better fighters.

Well, the Robbie Lawler vs Scott Smith at the very least was awesome, minus the ending.

Every fight league has nights with good fights and every league has nights with bad fights. I've seen plenty of PPV for other leagues that had way worse fights than those.

way worse? really? maybe production wise, but even IFL events had better fights.

I've watched some pretty bad fights in just about every major league, including UFC and Pride.

ya, i have to, but the consistency of the XC event was pretty bad compared to the many others i've seen.

I found this interview from Thompson on his lost to slice andhe says that his gut tells him that if he was at the bottom and elbows were being dropped on him than the ref would have stopped the fight.

I think they shouldve stopped it right there. He was beating on Kimbo for a while before being saved by the bell. Then again. his elbows didnt seemed to be doing that much damage.

What do you guys think of the next UFC card?

UFC 85? Doesn't impress me too much.

the only fight i'm looking forward to is Werdum vs Vera.

Anyone see Faber vs Palmer in the WEC? I was looking forward to it, but I never caught it.

Nothing looks like it will be too spectacular up until the Affliction event. Even DREAM 4 and Sengoku III look a little dull.

Great fight, i watched it again on Wednesday.

UFC 85 was shitty, and i'm not surprised.

besides the Marquardt fight, which still was ****ed up, there was nothing good about this event. Some of the prelims seem to be interesting, but still not impressive.

one of the weakest events in a while.

Matt Hughes should retire now. I want to see the Bisping fight. I didnt watch it because as u said, it was a weak event.

the Werdum/Vera fight started out great, but ended in somewhat of a controversial finish.

the Marquardt/Thalas fight was also great, but round 2 and 3 were very strange due to ref making unusual calls.

i dont want to spoil for others.

as for Hughes, he said he's fighting Serra and retiring from the octagon.

Affliction: Banned

one of the best cards i've seen in such a long time. probably the best.

rumor has it that they just added

Vitor Belfort vs Terry Martin
