The undefeated(13-0) Lyoto Machida v. the also undefeated(13-0) Thiago Silva. Somebody's O must go. Who wins?

Machida. I've seen Silva in dangerous situations in the past. I see Machida capitalizing on every single chance he gets.

Machida by whatever he's in the mood for. And by no means am I bashing Silva, it's just I think his mount is the only significant factor in his arsenal against a fighter like Machida, and even then, Machida's ground game is top notch.

If Machida wins then he should be next in line for the LHW title. The guy would be 14-0 with his latest fight being against another undefeated LHW.

I heard Shogun will be fighting Chuck Liddell is this true?
And how come everyone said Shogun was the best LHW back when he was in Pride because I haven't been impressed with him now that he is in the UFC

The fight is rumored to take place on the UFC 97 card.

Yes it's true, but nothing is official yet.

Shogun was easily the best LHW fighter in MMA. He was demolishing all his opponents with adept skills.

Problem was that, when he arrived to UFC, he was going through a marriage, and knee surgery.

Not making excuses though, his cardio has looked shitty recently.

Any1 else watching Affliction tonight? This card is nasty.

****ing AA tries to be fancy, then gets koed mid-air. Damn, he was doing so good. I think they're going to meet again, and AA will actually be the first guy to beat Fedor in MMA. Props to Fedor with the vicious KO victory though.

Doubt that.

Fedor will change it up. He knows what AA can do now. Or he'll try harder for a takedown. And AA's flying knees have worked when he's had people in a corner. Not really being fancy.

Sounds cool. Links?

Slow, but they're there.

I'm curious now as to how many tickets were actually sold and ppv buys they got, I don't want Affliction to go under.

AA wasn't trying to be fancy, that flying knee would have KO'd anyone, but Fedor didn't duck down like others would have. AA did a perfect muay thai push kick and Fedor just ate it and fell back on the ropes, but Fedor didn't go for a takedown to avoid combos from AA. He just waited to counter, and KO'd AA.

Beautiful.

Fedor is one of those fighters that can adapt to any opponents style, and find a way to win. Let's not forget, he was in way more trouble against Hong Man Choi.

Not taking anything away from AA though.

And Vitor's KO was brutal.

Here are the payrolls.

Fedor is making way more, the 300k is just for this fight. All the promotions, royalties, whatever you can think of, he's making over a mil at least.

Great night of fights.
Vitor and Fedor were vicious.
Future matches I would like to see now:

1.Fedor VS Barnett
2.Arloski VS Gilbert Yvel
3.Vitor Belfort VS Melvin Manhoef

Affliction 3?
Would be nice to have those 3 fights.

Great call on Vitor vs Manhoef. That would be a war.

I'm not looking forward to Fedor vs Barnett anymore. I just think AA was Fedor's toughest test. Plus, Barnett loves Fedor, I think he'll find a way out of this match up.

Man, that was a huge body shot from Faber.

Good card as well... shit ending on the last one though. 🙁

I pick GSP to beat BJ again by TKO

Penn has a strong chin, GSP doesn't have much power in his hands. I doubt this fight will end in a tko in favor of GSP.

I see it as their last fight. Penn dominating in the beginning and slowly gassing. Now, we don't know how much his cardio has improved, so we'll just have to see.

My gut says: Penn via TKO Round 2

My logic says: GSP via Decision

He had enough power to take Matt out, both Matts. He can hurt him w/kicks & punches & then wail on him until the ref stops it. GSP will "rush" him 😐 That wasn't as funny as I thought it would be but the point still stands. George is better than he was the 1st time & even though BJs cardio will likely be better than it was the 1st time, it won't be enough to hang w/GSPs Captain America-like stamina. BJ is gonna be overwhelmed

the rush pun was funny by the way lol

Penn has fought much better strikers than GSP.

Who knows man. This fight is going to be just as great as their first fight, and I HOPE it goes to a Split Decision again, because we need a Penn vs GSP III in the next few years.
