the blame goes to the eagles defender who kicked a giant and gave them 15 free yardsl, turning a 50 yard FG into a 35 yarder allowing them to go to OT. Id of given Feely a 1% shot at making the 50 yarder, hes not great under pressure or from really far.

probaly more on the guy who fumbled

yea but fumbling is part of the game, yea its not good but its gonna happen even to the best players. Going out of your way to attack someone knowing it will be a huge penalty and costing your team a game is stupid and has no excuse, its the same situation as in the world cup, you dont put your team in that situation, he did it on purpose.

I watched a lot of football this weekend (college and pro), and I think I can say with some degree of accuracy that on passing attempts of 15 yards or more, I saw about as many defensive pass interference calls, illegal contacts, and defensive holdings as I did completions. No check that, how about catchable balls! There are two things I'd like to see be done this next off-season: 1) Reduce the penalty yardage to 15-yards in the NFL for pass interference or hell, just give them the 5 yards and automatic first down like for illegal contact, and 2) Provide a stat for each defensive back that calculates penalties / opportunity. By opportunity, I mean a passing attempt in their direction, towards a receiver that the DB has not checked off, is covering man-to-man or zone, or has shifted into coverage. I'd like to see those numbers. It sounds boring, but I'd bet a few numbers would surprise you. I also wouldn't mind the NFL releasing the penalties / game (with breakdown) for each reffing crew, while we're at it.

I somewhat agree about the pass interference penalty, but what will happen is that any long pass over 30 yards, the DB will just push interfere with the WR, neglacting an huge chance for big yardages.

I wish a stat like that was created, you would see a guy like Terrence Newman, Bailey, or other great DB's who dont allow any yardages or TD's get the respect they deserve through stats over guys like Vasher or Law (who are good too but always get the Pro Bowls because of INTS)

Its hard to get INT's when the QB doesnt throw to you. Just think of how many INT's Deion Sanders would of had if the QB threw to his side of the field.

Well, before the MNF game, I told my wife the final score would probably be something like 13-9. Only problem, one team forgot to score 13. Yeah, Ben was throwing off-target and maybe shouldn't have been out there, but the receivers played a sub-par game. At one point in the 4th quarter, I was yelling, "just throw a slew of f*cking sideline passes like every one else is doing, for crying out loud!" Actually, I think if Big Ben's long throw to Ward had been on the money, there would have been 1 less guy in the box the whole night. But it didn't happen, so the point is moot.

Wow. Bring back Tommy Maddox....Ben's a tool.

Nah, but that was a crap game.

batch maybe.. maddux never.. you saw a big weakness that is willie parker. If he cant break 2-3 big runs a game hes all but worthless.

People forget that Tommy's sh*t game last year was coming off an injury and only about 2 days of practice. He was a good QB in Pittsburgh for a couple years prior to that.

I think the Steelers just acquired Najeh Davenport for the shorter runs, so hopefully that helps. I've never felt fully confident with just Willie handling the load.

...

Anyway, Baltimore/Chicago Super Bowl seems a possibility to me at this early point in the season. Offenses come and go throughout a season, but defense travels anywhere, and they're getting their O's together too.

Willie's fine. There aren't many games where he gets held in check and doesn't reel off a few 15 and 20-yarders. It just so happened that one of them was on National Television, so everybody saw him go nowhere. My advice for people who think he's a poor football player, how about showing up for the other 15 games before writing him off? Oh, wait, I believe he ran for way over 100 against a good Miami D-Line...nah, it couldn't have happened...he sucks.

And Ben's fine. Now that I think about it, I was glad he was in there. He needs fast, real-time game conditions, so I see that particular point valid.

He doesnt suck, hes just not a consistant runner at all. He has a very good potential of breaking off a few 15-30 yard runs in a game. The problem is if he doesnt hes about the worst starting RB in the league at that point. It would be nice if he could get 3-4 yards with more consistancy and still pull of those big runs like a warrick dunn. He has some talent, but I think a lot of that is just him waiting for the line to happen to open a big hole for him and his great speed helps him get into the secondary very quickly. Hes a dangerous guy in the backfield but not someone you can count on.

Roy Williams says score doesn't matter and yet he goes on to make another guarantee about wins. So I guess that would mean the score does matter, Roy.

bengals won!!!

I agree with Forumcrew.

I think Parker is a very respectable RB in the league, but not great like some people make him out to be.

I will say one thing that bugs me, though: Parker is way too easy to bring down. I'm not sure if the Steelers staff is doing exactly the right thing by making him be more patient and wait on his blocks instead of bursting through the hole like his 1st and part of his 2nd years. We'll see.

Maybe...maybe.

The steelers like I said a while back will have problems with there offense parker is like Adam dunn he either hits a homerun or strikesout They really need a short yardage back that can pick up those tuff yards parker is not going to pick those up hes barely 200 pounds yeah hes has potential to make big plays but you need that brusier in the back that can not only get those 3rd and shorts or goalines but also keep the wear and tear off parker so he has his legs to make a big play in a game. Ben will be fine he will throw quite a bit of picks and reality will set in but there defense will help the offense with field position this year..

I hope the Vikings-Bears game is on TV where I am. It's always the Eagles, but they play at 4, so the Vikes might be on Fox instead. They better not show the f*ckin Redskins-Texans instead of the Vikings game because the Vikings game is just flat out a better game to watch.

Carolina at Tampa Bay - Panthers are better than they have been playing, I fully expect them to show that here.
Chicago at Minnesota - Bears are looking really dominant, they are the choice here.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh - I am a die hard Bengals fan. That said I know this could go either way , but you gotta stick with your team. Bengals in a close one.
Green Bay at Detroit - Packers
Jacksonville at Indianapolis - Colts
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo - Jets
Tennessee at Miami - Dolphins
Washington at Houston -Reskins
Baltimore at Cleveland - Ravens...but by all means cleveland, do feel free to step up and beat the ratbirds.
N.Y. Giants at Seattle - This should be the Monday nighter! lol. I'd go Giants, but Seattle is tough to play at, so gimme Seahawks.
Philadelphia at San Francisco - Eagles
St. Louis at Arizona - Cardinals
Denver at New England - Broncos

Atlanta at New Orleans - Falcons. Sorry New Orleans.

thats why they got Davenport

Bengals / Steelers should be a good one, but surprisingly, it usually isn't. The scores are usually lopsided or made to look pretty by a few late TD's. In this matchup - like many of the tough AFC matchups - it usually comes down more to coaching and less to talent on the field.

Jack Del Rio is a coach that knows how to beat Bill Cowher. Marvin Lewis, who is 2-5 against Cowher, has yet to prove that.

As a Steelers fan, I will cringe every time our defense makes a tackle, for I'd hate to think that someone on the Bengals stubbed their toe and used that as an excuse in case they lost. Sad to say, I have no choice but to root for zero sacks against Palmer. If he gets his hangnail caught in the turf and has to sit out a play - and the Bengals lose - Marvin Lewis and the rest of Bunghole Nation (who, BTW, were a part of Brown Nation just two years ago) will point to that as the deciding factor in the outcome.

May the best team win and may the lesser team be classy when the score ticks down to double-zeroes.
