I hope he does go somewhere else, so I can actually root for the team he's starting for. Then I hope Brady continues to have complications for the rest of his career, and I hope the Pats and their fans regret letting Matt go.
As much as I don't like the Patriots I wouldn't want to wish medical complications on someone. I do imagine Cassel leaves and finds himself a starting job though.

What do you expect?
Obviously, they'll want to keep him, but not for a high price backup.
They cannot regret not keeping him when the QB goes to a starting QB job and more money.
Actually, is he a free agent this year?

Brady is on IR it doesnt matter if tomorrow he has a miraculous recovery he can not play again this year period.
But I gotta be honest, I dont buy into the whole "Tom Brady IS the Patriots" bullshit. If I were the one who makes the decision who to keep or trade, or let go, or whatever, and Cassell plays outstanding through this season and the playoffs, I am gonna see a younger QB who is NOT coming off an injury, and who got the job done with Tom Brady numbers (I mean if he continues to play outstanding like the last two weeks.) I am gonna say bye bye Tom.

He has played pretty well the past couple of games, and some really shitty ones also.
Wait till playoff time. Who would rather have Brady, or Cassell?
Umm Brady?
The only reason you are saying this is because you hate Brady. If Jim Sorgi played well this year in place of Manning, would you trade Manning for Sorgi?
Originally posted by SmasandianI am speaking from a managerial POV. If Cassel does well this season, should Brady just be given back the job next season, or should he have to win it back in training camp?

Originally posted by SmasandianYou're missing the point. IF Cassel plays this well the rest of the season, BIG IF I know, he is younger, and is not coming off a torn ACL. Same as when Brady took over for Bledsoe, he was the future of the Pats, just like it is possible, however slim a chance, that Casell is the future for the Pats now.
There should be no discussion.Give it back to Brady. What has Cassell proved?
That he has played well 2 games. What has Brady proved? That he consistently plays well every season. Unless Brady turns into a hobbled old man (highly unlikely), then Brady is the starting QB.
I just think that if Casell continues to play at the level he is playing at now, then Brady should be forced to beat him in training camp next season.

Yesterday their were some pretty good games..
Do you actually watch the games? The matchups were mostly terrible on paper and the games were just as terrible in reality.
PS Gotta love Seattle pretending to try to win. Two weeks in a row they get the ball at the end with a chance to win the game and both games Hasselbeck throws a walk off (for the other team) pick on the first play.
I'm not missing the point at all. Brady had one of the best seasons a QB has ever had. He wasn't showing any sort of degradation of skill at all. In fact, he was probably improving. He had a horrible knee injury in the first game, which leaves for vast amounts of time to heal. He isn't a mobile QB so a slightly worst knee isn't going to affect him long term like it would for some other QB's.
It shouldn't be a discussion. Brady will be the QB next year. Cassell might be the future 5-6 years from now, but he will be gone.
In reality, what has Cassell proving? He can throw over 400 twice in a row. Let's wait till the end of the season before we have any discussion that Cassell can compete with Brady. I hate the NFL sometimes, its all about now, not about what happened before. Out of all the QB's in this league, the only 2 I can possible say shouldnt never be worried is Manning and Brady.
Originally posted by SmasandianSure, just give the job back to Brady, don't make him prove he can still do it 🙄 I am merely saying if Brady isn't his old self, the Pats need to be sure. Make him PROVE it in training camp.

And yeah, the NFL is basically just a big business. It's all about the here and now. Drew Bledsoe is a perfect example of this.
