NFL Talk

"There will be no deal at the 11th hour. NFL owners voted unanimously to break off labor talks today" Its official mass cut thursday will be upon us. The NFL had extended the deadline to 10pm eastern in hopes a deal would be done. So by late tonight its cut city. and also not just cuts, but lots of players also wont get resigned who would have like Alexander, hes out for sure.

good god... these damn deadlines mean NOTHING. They keep extending it after it passes. This is getting old. Start Free Agency, if you keep giving them more and more time, they will never respect a deadline.

Ahman Green got a new 1 year deal.. which is stupid because he sucks.
Alexander Im so happy about and 8 years? damn thats sweet.
Lavar Arrington paid the redskins 4 million to be released from the team, so he will be a free agent.
Isac Bruce was cut from the Rams last night also. While hes old he will still make a good WR for a team for another 1-2 years.

Alexander contract is huge....he's going to be released down the road, its almost an guarantee.
Bruce left the Rams. That sucks. I hate it when players like Bruce, Emmitt Smith and others who stayed with the team since they got drafted, had amazing careers, and then get cut or traded when they're older. They should enact a rule or somethign that states a player who has good numbers and been on the team for years, cannot be traded or cut.
Arrington was almost a given.

I would love to have Arrington come on over to the Giants...that'd be nice.

We will suck next year. Even if we get James. I have a feeling Johnson will play horrible. And our Wide Recievers aren't the greatest, but they arent bad either. Our defense if OK at best, too.

If only the Vikings could trade up in the draft and get Vince Yound. 😛

Did they increase the cap number?

If they did, maybe James will stay in Indy?

Or was the problem that they didnt have money because no money available, or they dont have cap space?

They did reach a new agreement extended the deal for 6 years. The cap went up about $10 Million. THe owners voted 30-2 for it. (cinci and buff i believe were the 2 against it) This is great news for teams like the redskins who woulda been royaly F'd. Also good for teams like the Seahawks who already had close to $10 million in cap space, and now get that doubled.

As far as Edge goes im really not sure. I could still very likely see him leaving.. and its POSSIBLE marroney falls to Indy in the draft.

Yeah, its good. The Cowboys have around 25 million to work with. But the thing is, now alot more teams can actually get into the free agent frenzy.

And a lot less cuts. I presume.

Indy will do something or another. I have no clue.

I agree, but I'll tell you what's really embarrassing. When a player spends their whole career with one team, and then goes to a terrible team at the end of their career, and start talking smack about the team they spent 12 years with. Then, they're out of football a year later and the original fans hate his guts from that wasted smack!

well the fans shouldnt hate them.. mainly because they generally only leave if the team cuts them or wont sign them, its the teams fault not theirs. Granted they could retire but these guys live to play.

All-time postseason sack leader Willie McGinest cut by the patriots
Ramsey is going to be traded, it seems the Jets, Lions, and Dolphins are the 3 he may go to.
Seau was also cut by the dolphins

Perfect example...let's see, if his new team plays the Pats next year, if the Gillette fans boo him and/or he talks sh*t about them. Don't say they or he won't because it's happened before. I would go 50/50 on those, and if they happen - that's the real embarrassing part!

Yeah it is.

It's pretty sad. But that's life right?

In the real world, you get fired, or you quit, the person usually talk shit about thier last jobs. In my line of work, a cook talking shit about a chef he worked under is something really bad because you have no idea how much influence that guy has. All it takes is the other chef, calling his friend, the old chef, and saying, " this cook is talking shit about you". Next thing you know, that cook aint working anymore.

well its not that sad for Bruce because he was signed by no other then.... THE RAMS!! a new 3 year deal for him today.

Javon Walker told GB he doesnt want to be there, and wants to seek a trade.

That's good.
It's nice to see that the Rams signed him back. Good for them

I think the Patriots will be doing the samething for Willie McGinest.

yea that is possible, but hes gonna have a few more people interested in him with some good $$ than bruce had

FREE AGENCY HAS OFFICIALY STARTED!!!

The Panthers and Foster agreed to a three-year, $14.5 million contract Friday night that includes a $4.5 million signing bonus. The $14.5 million could end up being worth another $3 million based on escalators and incentives.

Bucs release QB Griese but they may be re-signing him. (by the way incase anyone was confused to why teams cut then resign, it is to avoid paying them the roster bonus due to them)
Bucs also signed a 1 year deal with Alstott, im guessing this will be his last year.

heres a good article on a lot of the free agents out there by John Clayton. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2362340

Let's hope the Cowboys pickup a stud of outside linebacker, a free safety and some o-line help.

Here's to Juliun Peterson, Chris Hope ( I doubt it), and some RT thats good.
Draft this year will hopefully be an young fast WR.

Koren Robinson (who i HATE) resigned with the vikings today.
Raiders cut Kollins, I keep hearing culpepper is heading there.

That what I heard too.

I thought Koren Robinson had a very good year in Minnisota?
