But using nails is a fundamental in several kung fu styles, and the rules are basically denying them of one of their strengths. That's like not letting a Muay Thai fighter use kicks.

There are other tournaments than UFC and some allow nails ,yet taijutsu/ninjutsu is the only style that seems to benefit from the lack of rules. Kung Fu still doesn't have wins in these competitions.

Not always. I'll be the first to admit my style has some problems with training typically, but a Tae Kwon Do jin who actually trains properly could wreck your shit.

Also, FrigidSoul watch the KO at about 3:00. Tae Kwon Do has some ok punches. It's just that most Tae Kwon Do jin don't ever train the damn things.

i remember that turkish Serkan fighter. He lost in a K1 event last year in less than 2 minutes.

Yeah that Turkish dude is pretty badass.

Here's a vid of a Tae Kwon Do fighter who totally WTFowns a Muay Thai fighter in a championship bout: http://youtube.com/watch?v=oYQ_J9DUqdA

Hey, I'm not saying Serkan is a god or anything. I just wanted to show that if more tae kwon do jin would train properly, we might see a return to what tae kwon do was in like the 60's and before. Unfortunately right now, the style is shit due to point sparring and the organizations that keep supporting it.(olympics included).

I saw that one. If I remember correctly, it was set up to make tae kwon do look good for a Korean audience. I believe the "muay thai" guy was paid to loose and doesn't actually do muay thai either.

What did you think of Kid's flying knee knockout from my post earlier?

Another problem with typical tae kwon do training these days. The large majority of dojangs teach you to keep your hands down because of point sparring.

Franklin was destroyed dude...Silva rearranged his nose for him, nasty.
Yeah, "Real Deal," is a awesome card, should be good. Big fight for Belfort, a win against Hendo would be huge.

I watched the Silva vs Franklin fight. WOW. Those were some kick ass knees from Silva. Poor Franklin. Anyone who thinks Muay Thai isn't a top tier striking style, watch this fight please. FEAR THE THAI CLINCH!!

Also, I'd like to talk about Coleman vs Fedor II in the "Real Deal"(lame name). If anyone remembers Coleman vs Fedor I, it looked like Coleman could have won. He's definitely stronger than Fedor and got Fedor on the grown extremely early in the fight. If his submission defense was better, I think he could have handed Fedor his first lost back then. Now at Coleman vs Fedor II, does anyone think Coleman has a chance? I'd still give the edge to Fedor, but if Coleman could combine how he fought last time with some improved submission defense, maybe he could give Fedor a run.

Coleman has definitely more muscle strength, but Fedor clearly is better in other aspects. Fedor even said he learned his ground n pound skills by watching coleman fight. Coleman does have a chance, but not a very good one. Fedor is healed, and his judo/sambo background overpowers colemans strength.

Anyone watch "Real Deal?" Coleman got caught in an armbar. Lawler had a pretty sweet KO by flying knee, he knocked the guys tooth out.

Coleman got caught in the armbar...again. Fedor was incredible, Butterbean was entertaining, and Shogun displayed his brazilian jiujitsu skills.

if anyone wants any of the fights, just send me a private message.

Anyone else think the Real Deal fights were completely one-sided?

Fedor seems to be looking leaner. Anyway, Fedor vs Mark II ended like I thought it would with Fedor winning. Unfortunately, Mark didn't work on his submission defense like he should have and lost to the EXACT SAME DAMN ARMBAR he did last time.

Rua vs Randleman was suprising. I thought Rua would win of course, but by KO not by submission. Randleman is way too agressive and should have learned that over agressiveness doesn't always work. I've been caught in that heel hook in sparring. The pain is bearable while it's happening, BUT afterwards you realize you can't walk properly for a while and it starts hurting badly. Randleman should've tapped earlier instead of waiting for the kneebar that almost ripped his leg off. He is going to be hurting for a while.

Butterbean and Lawler had nice KOs. Baroni destroyed Nishijima.

Maybe Pride was trying to have some fights that would end quickly when they made this card so Pride would look good in its American debut. Every fight was one person curbstomping someone else.

Also, aren't there supposed to be some more fights? Is there a Real Deal Round 2 or did the other fights get cancelled?

We don't even allow them in my school when we roll, you can get jacked up.
Not sure about RD2, haven't heard anything.

i do tae kwon do but i would love to do ju-jitsu

would u count boxing as a martial arts form?

Yes, boxing is a martial art. It is also top-tier as far as striking styles are concerned.
