No. It's not. Sakurai specifically stated how it works, and it's like Zelda/Shiek: Down Special. They're traded out in the set order of Squirtle-Ivysaur-Charizard. They share the damage meter, but they also have a stamina stat, meaning that you have to swap them out regularly or they'll be too tired to fight well.
Where did you hear that from? Smash Dojo didn't mention anything about how they battle so a link would be cool.

Why is it that the pokemon trainer has to have pokemon from the first generation? It would have been better if he had pokemon from the third or fourth generation.
Since Charizard, Ivysaur, and Squirtle are playable, that must mean that Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastiose won't be coming out of the pokeball items.
I Relay only liked the first and 2ed now thay have to many. But this looks sweet if i must say. the final smash would be different for different Pokemon. Squirtle would use hydro pump, Ivysaur would use solar beam, Charizard would use fire blast OR something like that. ore thay might all go and use some unison attack.

The original 150 pokemon are far better than the more recent things. Which is cooler, a dragon or a monkey that's on fire?

More specifically, I was thinking that the pokemon trainer should have the starter pokemon from the third generation. Personally, I like the third generation starter pokemon more than the fourth generation starter pokemon. Besides, that fire monkey is weird.

Ivysaur, not Bulbasaur. Middle evolution, so it's first-second-third. That was the best way to do a weak fast-balanced-strong slow set. especially since Blastoise ain't exactly weak.
