i wonder what you will have to do to unlock this guy
Notice how they didn't announce THE CHARACTER as "ASH", which is his name.

I'm wondering why. I wish they had of.

I was thinking today though that maybe they didn't want people confused and thinking that you actually fought with the character ASH and wanted to emphasize the fact that you only battled with his POKEMON, therefore naming him appropriately POKEMON TRAINER.

But still. I'd prefer they say his name somewhere and give him some recognition. I have to keep looking at the picture to make sure it's him and not some random generic stand-in Pokemon Trainer.

Actually I would be very surprised if for some reason this Assist Trophy was to be absent in the North American release. Such a thought wouldn't even cross my mind.

He will definitely be in all versions of the game.

Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

They wanted to make anonymous. "Ash" only shows up in the TV show. As far as the actual games go, the Trainer that you control is canonically named "Red". And Gary, you rival, as canonically named "Blue". Not too mention that in the new video games Ash isn't even in them anymore. They all just look like him ermm

I'm not talking about references to the Gameboy games at all.

I'm talking about Super Smash Brothers Brawl and the character they're providing.

Not the pixelated character in the old Gameboy games that never were meant to be ASH that looked nothing like him anyway.

By the way, you say Ash only appeared in the TV Show and then you say he's not in the games anymore, which would mean that at one point he was. Thought I'd point that contradiction out.

The point of the Super Smash bros. games it too have Nintendo mascots and characters who have been in multiple Nintendo games fight each other. Ash is not in any of the games. So there would be no reason to put him in it anyways.

I wasn't questioning whether the Pokemon Trainer was Ash or not b/c I know it is. I'm not really looking to debate that.

I was just talking about the issue of his Name not being used and the manner in which he was announced on the Website.

The Trainer is not Ash. It's not even Satoshi. Ash/Satoshi is simply the anime/manga character. This is just the standard male trainer from Red and Green/Blue. That's why they didn't call him Ash or Satoshi: It's the trainer you picked a name for at the start of the game.

Indeed, Gen Kaliero is right, ti is not Ash. It would be a pretty let down for those of us who liked Red/Blue (and also Silver(Gold) if we were forced to play a character that we have never played before, when we could have played one we remember from good old times.

Have you seen today's update? It looks like they've found a replacement for the trophies from the last game.

i agree

if it was ash i would be pissed

I hope thay keep trophies to... you can put stickers in book, and trophies on a table.

I really liked the trophies... having full 3D figures of classic Nintendo icons was really great.

And with stickers, we won't get fun things like Daisy's third eye.

yeahh i liked the trophies as well

not liking the stickers so far

Although stickers aren't better than trophies, I'm okay with them.

They never said that trophies were gone now. They just said that the stickers were a new collection element. The trophies could still be in the game.

Why don't the both of you like the idea of playing as ASH?

Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

Because Ash wasn't a trainer in the games.

It has nothing to do with liking anything; that's simply not Ash.

Ash.

Not Ash.

There is a likeness, because Ash/Satoshi was based off Red. But Red came first, and is a separate character. Red does not start off with a Pikachu, he starts with either Bulbasaur, Squirtle, or Charmander.

Red=/=Ash

Simple as that.
