Stores like Target and Best Buy actually don't get any more copies than stores like Gamestop do 😛 Just the number of copies we get relies on the number of orders. That's because the date that most people think is the release date is actually the ship date. It's only street-dated games that usually get shipped before they're set to be release.
Then whats the point of saying on ads and previews and such that a game is being released on Tuesday, Augest something or another and then boom, I get to pick it up on Thursday night.
It's a major problem with videogames. It should be like clockwork and should be like CD's and DVD's. They're released on Tuesdays, and they make those days.
Should videogames be different?

Okay Question:How smooth will Bioshock run with:
2 Gigs ram, 3.0 Ghz Processor, 8800 320mb Graphics Card, Directx10 .. ?
Good? Bad? Perfect? Somewhere in between?
Crap, that set up will only get you a 6 million 3dmark06 score. Spend another $5000 upgrading until you can get a decent 1200fps. mhm

Blame it on the idiots who write the ads who don't seem to realize that it's very very rare for a store to have the game the very day it's shipped from the warehouse.
CDs and DVDs ship out before their in-store release date. Ship date for a video game is nearly always a Monday, which means it should be in the store by Tuesday. But also you have to keep in mind that shipping things isn't perfect and sometimes shit happens.
It's single player only. Which is a good thing in my opinion.
Replay Value: You play through this game with many types of things in your arsenal and there's a good change you won't be able to experience all of them to the fullest with just one play through.
Not to mention the numerous ways there are to get through a problem.

Your chances of getting a copy tomorrow if it's not ordered are pretty slim. We have precisely four extra copies at my store. And that's PC and 360 combined.

😑 ... I seem to have underestimated this games goodness*downloads demo*
Just get it at a store besides gamestop/EB. Target/Walmart/Fry's/Circuit City/Best Buy will have plenty.
Not once, in the last 20 years since I've been playing games, have I not been able to find a game on release day. Bioshock is a big release so the bigger stores will have ordered tons of them.
