I stated an objective fact, that TOR's gameplay is outdated (an objective fact that you agreed with, hence your attempt to justify it by bringing up financial suicide), and then explained why that objective fact has dissuaded me from looking forward to the game. That is not knee jerking, that is not "searching for things to dislike". In fact, considering that I never said nor implied that that was what I was doing, it's a little incredible that you'd have the gall to accuse me of such. Disliking a game because its gameplay is boring = going out of one's way to hate it?

How stupid do you think I am?

^ That's you, prefacing your post with your intent to basically poo-poo the game and the demo vid. Therefore, anything you say that may be considered 'objective' needs to be taken in context, since you're clearly biased against the game.

You don't see it as anything other than biased because you're the one who has an emotional attachment to this game, not I, lol. Proof?

Don't insult me with this kind of dribble, Blax. See above.

I'd really appreciate it if I could be allowed to state my opinion on the game without you making personal attacks at me and accusing me of having some kind of malevolent agenda, thanks.

Herp derp, Blax.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has them and some are shittier than others. Yours just happens to stink up the thread because you're blatantly attempting to stir shit up.

Hayden Blackman, mastermind behind The Force Unleashed, went on record saying that Starkiller had the potential to be "the most powerful Force user ever." I think that Announcer-Guy could merely be exaggerating the scope of this thing's power.

Potential and realization of power are two different things. Starkiller could (oddly) have the highest potential ever, even above "Teh Furce is mah daddiez" Skywalker (Srsly, **** TFU), but that doesn't mean he lived to realize said potential. The FrankenForce Monster that lives in said prison is ancient and probably had centuries to perfect its insane potential.

Actually, I don't think so. Palpatine actually says to him in the dark side ending that Starkiller could have been his "successor, [his] equal."

I don't like the idea of Starkiller upsetting the delicate balance of the PT-OT stretch with his presence, either, so I'm willing to accept this as hyperbole.

He really isn't that powerful; his duel with Vader in the first game is fairly tough, Palpatine hands him his ass, and he's about dead equal to Vader in the sequel.

Still, some of his TK moments just make my brain hurt.

That's not hard, when I imagine that spelling TK is enough to do that. sneer

You know, I think Janus should read your fanfic.

He's a pretty competent writer from what I remember, so definitely. Talking about the prequels last night just made me want to start writing again. Too bad I hate my writing. 😬

I don't know about stupid. But, I will say that you're showing an incredible affinity for kneejerking.

No. That, is me sarcastically criticizing Neph for his near dogmatic efforts to defend the game against any and all forms of criticism. Am I trying to back peddle? Weeeelllllll, assuming that I was being serious here, and I truly hate this game with an unconditional passion, it's a bit odd therefore that I would, only a few lines further down, say, and I quote,

Unless I see something really fresh and exciting in the future

isn't it? As the intended implication there is that the game still has a chance to change my mind on it. That's a bit contradictory to the idea that I have some kind of unconditional hatred for the game, isn't it?

So, no. The reality of the situation is that due to past events that have made you jaded, you kneejerked and jumped on a statement that was made in jest like a rabid dog on rotten meat. And for the record, this is not a case of sarcasm being hard to detect on the internet, as you're the only one here who reacted to the post in such a hostile manner. This misunderstanding happened because you're frustrated with people bashing the game for stupid reasons, which is a valid frustration, but really not a good justification.

So, next time you might want to at least entertain the notion that there is some context to the post that you're not aware of?

Hey Janus, if you're still on can you hop onto the shoutbox at ROK?

Wait, what?

That was kind of painful to read. A lot of it didn't really make any sense.

It makes more sense in context with the article that linked it.

Not bad. A few things which troubled me though, just nitpicking:

- Obi-Wan being intimidated by the Council strikes me as out of character. He was often respectful and serious to them as an adult, but never submissive to the point of afraid.

- Anakin had blue eyes, iirc.

- Clone Wars 15 years ago? I'm lost here. Some background history would be helpful in clarifying things.

- Valorum was, by all accounts, hardly unscrupulous. if anything, he was among the only scrupulous politicians left in the Republic, and Palpatine basically arranged his loss of face and downfall.

But again, I'm nit picking. I found the work entertaining, and I looked forward to future content, which speaks for itself. I'm also intensely curious to find out what Ventress acquired on Thule.

For a second Janus, I thought you were me because I had that same avatar till like yesterday.

It's all part of my plan.

EDIT: Also, I miss having my '05 avatar size.

I just heard Tighten Up by the Black Keys on the radio driving home.

Such a great song!

This is Gideon's redone prequels. As he's said earlier he's changed the personalities a bit. Obi-Wan is more of rebel (as he hinted at when he spoke to Yoda in the OT) who's gottten over it. Valorum is meant to be more of a dick so that we can actually see where the Seperatists are coming from when they talk about the corruption in the Republic, as Valorum is very obviously a bastard.
