Great protagonists are compelling because we worship them in a sense. But an MMORPG isn't about hero worship; it's about your own unique creations. Part of me is bummed, but I remain hopeful that there's more. And besides, my character merits special attention when he goes forth and conquers the Sith Empire along with his *****, droid, and wayward companions.

Back in the 80s and 90s, party-based fantasy stories were extremely common, as opposed to current stories where the hero overshadows everyone else. It'd be nice to get back to the original recipe Tolkien made famous.

Yeah, I guess I'm just being a bit too harsh here.

I completely understand what you are saying, and I too prefer the above concept.

Oh come on no one asked for Revan to be killed off =/

You said that the Sith fanboys are enjoying being able to kill Revan.

No one asked for it, but it was clearly designed to market to the crowd as a pleaser.

This.

At the moment, Runescape has been my first and only 'real' online game I have ever played.

Well yeah but it's not as if BioWare was forced to do it form demand form the fans, it was their choice.

I'll be sure to rub in how much fun I'm having then.

You don't have to play with random people, you can always choose to play solo and when you need to play with guys you know.

Is there a monthly fee like in WoW? Or is it you buy the game and that's it?

I'm assuming 15 dollars a month. They haven't said the specifics other than there will be a fee.

Deal. In return I'll be sure not to rub in how much time and money I won't be wasting on one game in a franchise that relies on recycled themes, concepts, and apparently characters in order to cater to a hardcore fanbase and casual gamers to bring a gigantic nerd-profit.

Instead I'll go play Call of Duty.

😖

15 dollars a month isn't too bad until you realized you spent 180 in a year.

Yeah screw it after talking about it I'mma go play it.

Anyways LOL @ Revan. Nerfed to the extreme.

Wait what? Revan dies? They put him in the game just to die? Do these idiots at bioware understand anything about storytelling or continuity? Is killing Revan even considered canon?

Well the games not out yet, so we havn't gotten the full picture. I'd wait until we can reach the 'end' of the game till we write him off for good. And even then he could come back in expansions.

Still, Bioware does everything that can be considered idiotic. I guess they're just catering to those idiots on their forum who have never played the first two games.

Heroes of Might and Magic, anyone?

MMORPGs are really fun.

Runescape was really fun back in middle school until the game designers made free-to-play users have like 1/20 what pay-to-play users had.

But Guild Wars was great. I played it at my friend's house for some time, and it was definitely worth it because you only buy the game and that's it.

If I'm going to play online, it's going to be a FPS. I don't care about casting spells or doing crap like that. I would like to engage my character in the action directly.

That is personal taste, then.

MMORPGs itself have the potential to be really good. Things like monthly fees or fail plot-lines (such as this fiasco with Revan) kill them, however.

Still WoW seems to be doing just fine...

Well, that just proves the downfall of civilization, nothing more. I can't believe people pay to not only play WoW, but to buy gold and other crap. It's called having no life and generally being antisocial.

You know, you could just make a non-caster character. Like a Sith Warrior. Grrrrr Beefy Smash!
