They are Sith fans, and around 55 percent of the people interested int he game are playing Sith from a sample of a tens of thousands of people. So they catered to them. The Republic better get something more epic because freeing him ONLY TO DIE seems like a kick in the balls.
Catering to the Sith shouldn't translate to killing off a legend for fun- it isn't heroic and a ton of people, Sith fans included, are going to be like "WTF?!"
Something more must be happening, otherwise this is fail storyline in the telling.

It's only a level 30 flashpoint and there's one more at 50, plus there's your personal class storyline. Anyways gauged form the Sith fanboys in the TOR forums and that Sith player they're going to love killing Revan.
This is why KOTOR 3 would have been > than Old Republic.
Isn't Star Wars always about the Light Side? Why the fvck would you screw over someone like Revan in a level 30 flashpoint to please stupid Sith fans?

Ehh I've wanted a MMO that wasn't crappy like WoW for awhile and it's awesome it's just this story decision sucked.
And now Darth Malgus is going to get mad overhyped and become the new Emperor or something. But smh...

My friend and I were talking about DX today and we both were confused- how do you pronounce "Deus Ex?"I said "day-s ex" and he said "dooss ex."

Oh, lovely...
SW MMORPG >>> KotOR III in my opinion. Unless KotOR III would have had open ended storylines and multiplayer ability, which is unlikely. I love epic stories as much as the next guy, but it kills replay value.
True...but Bioware's successes have come from "epic stories." I guess it was to be there next bold move, and I'm sure TOR is a fantastic game. But my opinion of it just went down after the absolute fail plot-line I just read.

Still, all disappointments aside, the game promises to allow for an epic story with the war going on, a new era and player-driven storylines, plus optional PvP, Huttball, etc.
It can't all be the classic BioWare "You are the goddamn chosen one, look at how special you are, omfg everyone else is fodder and support to you, o' singular badass of all time, special unique 1337 super soldier god child dragon breathing fire pissant!"
I'm sorry, I got carried away.
Basically, it could be a game that isn't epic meaning "you play an overpowered, ridiculously hero material character", and still be epic in the sense of "classic story driven science fiction experience where the whole is greater than the parts, etc."

😆
I completely understand.
I'm saying that the "goddamn chosen one, look at how special you are, omfg everyone else is fodder and support to you, o' singular badass of all time, special unique 1337 super soldier god child dragon breathing fire pissant!" has worked for Bioware.
And now it took one of its best "chosen one"s (if not its more popular) and screwed him to satisfy the whims of MMO gamers.

Oh come on no one asked for Revan to be killed off =/
Great protagonists are compelling because we worship them in a sense. But an MMORPG isn't about hero worship; it's about your own unique creations. Part of me is bummed, but I remain hopeful that there's more. And besides, my character merits special attention when he goes forth and conquers the Sith Empire along with his *****, droid, and wayward companions.
Back in the 80s and 90s, party-based fantasy stories were extremely common, as opposed to current stories where the hero overshadows everyone else. It'd be nice to get back to the original recipe Tolkien made famous.

I just wish it wasn't multiplayer. I'm all for taking a different approach to the story, but the massive amount of time and effort they put in to making it online could have been better spent amping the story to new levels of OMFG MASS EFFECT HAS NOTHING ON THIS!
Don't worry, no one plays on Canadian servers anyways. You can solo to your heart's desire.

Online is where the money is at. If you can get a couple million people paying 15 bucks a month you make bank.
