Whats so bad about Ayn Rand? She was great in Bioshock.

I wonder how a person that likes Ayn Rand inspires your wish to become a more educated person. 😉

inimalist likes Ayn Rand? That doesn't make any sense, I mean I know he's rather libertarian/anarchist, but I can't see him defending Ayn Rand. The woman is an embarrassment in academia.

Her wiki page intriques me. Naturally I've heard of her, but now that I read her section on philosophy I quite like it.

You guys are clearly just haters.

The only thing I agree with her on, is her epistemology, which is really just a regurgitation of Aristotle's rejection of platonism. That and her disdain for Immanual Kant, the man who destroyed ethics.

Man, fvck Kant.

My philosophy course was pretty much me raging at him whenever he was brought up. Screw him.

Rand is fun on the first readthrough, and then you figure out that she wants to kill babies.

Human babies.

Won't someone please think of the children!

Rand is fun on the first readthrough,

WHO IS JOHN GALT?

Oh Christ!

Suffice to say, I didn't like her prose.

EDIT - Although I can say that most philosphers. I think Russell is the only philosopher that's actually been a pleasure to read.

Rand's epistemology is tops. I never did finish the book Objectivity though. Had it sitting on my book shelf for years now.

That pisses me off. My server's right down the ****ing block and my internet still sucks.

mine was 16/5/11

TJ, you can click Share and get forum links to post, btw.

Apparently, my server is about 150 miles away, go figure.

Is this bad?

Your upload sux. Ping's not so hot either, but since you're in the UK, that's to be expected.

I skimmed Atlas Shrugged.

I suppose I should say "the implications of Rand are fun on a first readthrough," because it means you get to refuse medicine to a dying man (what has he done for me lately?) and ignore community issues. It's like crack for the adolescent ego.

Skimming Atlas Shrugged takes a long time. It's one of the few books in existence which can also shield you from a nuclear holocaust, it's so damn thick.

Screw you guys and your fast, American internets.
