If you're suggesting he intentionally lost the fight, you're welcome to your opinion, but the evidence says otherwise.
I'm not assuming facts not in evidence just because Palpatine's one of my favorite characters and Mace isn't.The Other Guy says
I'm not doing that.Me says
He's not perfect, he's not all powerful, and he can certainly lose a fight fair and square. The Other Guy says
Just logical exercise.Me says
Logic dictates that Palpatine would wait until Anakin was in a moment to intervene before allowing Mace to secure his victory.
As it stands, Palpatine's already on his back before Anakin walks in.
More importantly, Lucas says that Palpatine was "trying to kill Mace" with the Force lightning; what's the point of doing all that in front of Anakin if you're going to try to kill Mace yourself anyways?
Dude's persistent.
TJ
wow. Gids, how much do you talk about star wars now?
mmm
A fair amount. I use MSN pretty much exclusively to keep in touch with my e-pals, most of whom I've met either on KMC or elsewhere, mostly because of specific topics, Star Wars being but one.
On the other hand, I don't talk about Star Wars so much as to not be enjoying a healthy sex life with an exceedingly hawt girl, popularity on a college campus of many thousands, and maintaining a not insubstantial GPA whilst managing to find the time to visit the gym multiple times a week.
TJ
you are in college, right?
Indeed.
TJ
the postings you see here are my one and only star wars outlet, and there arent' very many of them.
Congratulations? I'm very proud of you and your many accomplishments? Your preference to not openly discuss something you enjoy in favor of doing it on the internet indicates deep maturity and personal security? You are the embodiment of what young men and women should strive to be? I hope you find it within you to share your secret of success with the rest of us?
I'm not sure with regards to the nature of the validation you seek, so I hope one of these manages to cover it. Feel free to pick whichever one you like and cling to it, for you have my approval.

Alright, DS. Just did a pacifist Deus Ex playthru and got Foxiest of Hounds. You may worship me now.
How the fvck did you do that?
The stealth mechanics in the game are utter garbage. Like I wasted time getting stealth augs only to realize that one way or another the game was going to degenerate into a massacre at every turn.
I tried to stealth, but after reloading my games a combined total of 73 times before some BS detection I said fvck it, dumped the stupid tranq weapons and picked up some actual guns.
There were a pile of corpses surrounding him. His story wouldn't need to change much. "I was here in my office, the Jedi came and tried to kill me. I killed them all." Anakin would have had an easier time believing him really, since in that situation Mace wouldn't be alive selling Sideous out, creating conflict in Anakin. There'd be only one side of the story to tell.

Do I see you arguing against the hypothesis that Sidious did fake defeat...?
yup
You should have seen it before, too, unless you weren't looking. 131
Now there is evidence to suggest Palpatine did fake it, but it's overruled by George's declaration that he was trying to kill Mace with his lightning. It makes no sense to feign the duel and then suddenly unleash his full might upon Mace when Anakin is present.

I disagree.
All things considered, Palpatine's speed chess after Windu disarms him was more effective. Anakin knows Palpatine's been lying to him pretty much his entire adult life at this point; Palpatine needed Anakin to witness the Jedi try to kill him.

Like, the first question would be "how did they there", which, obviously, they went there of their own volition. The next question would be "Why are the strongest jedi in the mythos all in palpatine's office simultaneously"?

I mean... there's literally no reason for that. 😐
Well it looks why you'll never make detective can't just be chalked up to a lack of affirmative action. ermm
The presence of dead Jedi doesn't hinge exclusively on the idea that the Jedi tried to kill Palpatine. Anakin might see the bodies and conclude that Palpatine attacked them (which is exactly what happened, ironically).
Palpatine needed Anakin to see the Jedi as the aggressors, and to do that he had to put Windu in a position where he was willing to take Palpatine's life.
Your mother's a whore and not attractive at all. Also Lightsnake just comes.
What difference does it make? Anakin knew Sideous was the DlotS. He told Mace that Sideous was DlotS. Mace told him he'd get a group together and deal with Sideous.
Ten minutes later Anakin walks into the room and sees dead Jedi, the top fighting Jedi in the order mind you, littered around the office. It's obvious the jedi went there to confront Sideous and were killed.
What if Anakin had gone there and all the Jedi were dead, and upon asking Sideous what happened Sideous said that he killed them all in cold blood because he was a bastard? Do you think Anakin would have killed him there on the spot? Of course not. He may have tried, but all it would have taken to bring Anakin onto his side would have been to point out that Sideous and Sideous alone had the power to save Padme, which was the catalyst for everything to begin with.
I mean, when Anakin chops off Mace's arm I really don't think it's because he genuinely believed Sideous was some harmless old man being killed in cold blood. As you said, he knew Sideous was lying to him all along. He knew the Jedi were going after him and he knew Sideous was the DlotS, ergo... he had no reason to believe his frail old man act anyway. The deciding factor was when Sideous yelled that he could save Padme, and it was at that point Anakin realized he couldn't allow Sideous to die, evil or not.
That aside, how is seeing Mace winning make him the aggressor? It's just as likely that Palpatine started the fight and Mace finished it...
