The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Yeah, that needs to be visible. Z, you must produce results.

I downloaded it. I promise that it's worth it.

So I can download it from the link?

Yes. I think there's a redirect to this website though. So use this link.

Also, if you aren't current then there will be zero senses made by the video. It will not make any senses.

Indeed, Janus, you must read the whole story. All 20,000 pages of it.

It's hey, it's less than 6000, and probably more like 4000 pages.

(#bereasonablehere)

Thank god I download over a MB/sec.

Yeah, I should have been current. I don't understand a damn thing. Thought it was Minecraft meets Harry Potter until a minute in.

Is it interesting at all without the context? Just on the imagery alone?

To be fair, I had to rush off to class, so once I determined that I was hopelessly lost (0:30 or so) I closed it for now.

I watched it and had no idea what was going on.

There is a huge mythos that spans three (?) different universes, between four and twenty four (?) different protagonists, and wildly mismatched timelines.

So I'd need a flowchart to get up to date.

Yeah, theres no way you'd understand what was going on.

Did it have the chainsaw-wielding alien lesbian vampire in it? I like that character.

You know, I'm not sure if I could agree that he is without question the smartest. I'd say he faces stiff competition from Zamp and Lucius the Whore.

I think I figured out who the most stupid person in the entirety of KMC is in the last few days...

Back to the topic: Since I'm the only person who did read "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" and noticed the rather huge mistakes in terms of reasoning within the story, I guess I win. 😛

Seriously? This kind of talk is pretty vain. I don't think that many person in this forum will give "all they can" in the debates present. I just try to get my thoughts down into the reply field, without wasting much time thinking about structuring arguments or wording, which I would usually do. This should be fun here, not work. And I quite honestly think, that Lucius, Zamp, Janus and yourself operate under similar agendas.

1. Are you current?
2. Are these characters' mistakes, or things about the world?

You might be picking up on the entire point of the fic:

Spoiler:
that an AI would automatically eclipse any human effort

Or you could be seeing the author's own bias:

Spoiler:
He is a cryonicist who hopes to abolish death IRL; there is going to be some propagandizing, no matter what you do.

Outside of those two qualifications, I usually just accept that it is a fiction written by a flawed human and enjoy the light show.

Spoiler:
Could you be more specific, so I know what it is I'm apologizing for?

Oh gee, abolishing death. I'm sure they'll be no harmful effects of that whatsoever. 🙄

And you're welcome to him.
Henceforth, he's all yours.

Agreed.
