Yeah, the fight easily overshadowed the rest of the episode. All things considered, I'd probably rate "Shades of Reason" higher in terms of quality.
Honestly, Obi-Wan's presence was almost superfluous here. They should have had an episode dealing with him and then brought Sidious in the next.
On the other hand, I love what they did with Maul as a tactician and revealing his ultimate feelings for Savage.
Which fight was it?

Go ahead and apologize like the b1tch you are. uhuhAgain, that's not the case. Per the text, he flies through shortcuts and "dangerously close" to mass shadows, all flying at him at the speed of light. There is no evidence to the claim that the "information from the stars" gives him a fully detailed and complete map or path prior to departure. Even if so, he still has to react to these obstacles at lightspeed.
Flying through a shortcut does not have anything to do with reflexes, only that you know where the shortcut is and can steer in its direction. Hyperspace travel takes hours or days remember. Even at the speed of hyperspace travel, the distance between stars is thousands of lightyears. Which is why it takes so long. Plenty of time to gain knowledge of an approaching mass shadow. The mention of shortcuts is likely what the quote is saying when it mentions 'smoothing the tangles of hyperspace i.e making travel through it easier. Likewise flying close to mass shadows is a mater of precision flying, not reflexes.
And please, the quotes indicate that he gains enough knowledge of the route not to need a nav computer, whose function is to map the route of hyperspace travel. Even if he does not know the whole map, the length of hyperspace travel gives him plenty of time to receive the information. Anything else is entirely speculative. You cannot say that he has to react to things at lightspeed because you cannot know when he gains the information and how close he needs to be to change course.
Furthermore, there is no mention in any quote of heightened reflexes and only of telepathic knowledge. You have no evidence to support your theory and too much evidence denying it. Therefore it can be safely ignored.
Yeah, I agree with you on Obi-Wan presence. Having this episode take part over two would certainly improved it.
Furthermore, your right, it's certainly nice to see Maul as something more than just an animal. They gave him some depth and made it seem like he was an actual Sith rather than just a lightsaber wielding brute.

Were you pleased with how well the Zabraks fared?
I'm calling it now.
Spoiler:
Sidious will be using Maul against Talzin.

I was. They fared far better than I expected and I was surprised when Savage managed to get a hit in. Frankly, if it seemed Sidious was just toying with them then the duel looses a lot of it's excitement. I also liked that when it was one-on-one it was clear neither Maul nor Savage stood a chance and Sidious took them out in short order.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Spoiler:
I'm just hoping Kenobi gets to finish him off.
The duel starts at the 17:27 mark or so, if you're interested, Neph.
Was pretty cool, but the video was of such poor quality it was hard to appreciate the fight or see the lightsaber duel very well.
It did seem that Sidious was toying with them though from my perspective. They were overpowered by his TK constantly and easily ragdolled and he never seemed pressed in the lightsaber portions of the fight. I got the impression he was showing off more than anything.
Well, it'll probably be uploaded in higher quality on Youtube in short order. I'd do it myself if I knew how to get DVR'd recordings off the television, but alas my lack of tech savvy precludes this.
Anywho, I'm not willing to commit to the idea that he was toying with them at this point. Not only did each of them land blows (once?), but after knocking Savage on his ass, Sidious slackens and appears to give a groan of fatigue.
Then he ragdolls Maul.
Maybe the website will have more to say on it later.
