Tulkas can't wage war in Middle-earth because if he did so, entire mountain ranges and maybe the whole continent would be cracked in half. The Valar can't wage war because they are simply far too powerful. This is true even of the Maiar, like the Istari (Wizards).
Also, most of the mightiest warriors of the First Age are dead. Galadriel is still around, but she has to protect Lothlorien.
Dumb? No, dumb is Sidious suddenly opening up fleet-eating wormholes in Dark Empire.

Thats still dumb. Are they such losers that they can't not crack a continent? You know, hold back a bit? Can't they just step on Sauron and be done with it if they're so powerful?
IIRC Eru is the one limiting everyone, but if he's such a pussy about that stuff, why doesn't he just step on Saurons neck and call it a day?
Its not as if he's afraid about intervening, the wiki says: "In a letter written by Tolkien, he stated that Eru again intervened, this time in the Third Age, causing Gollum to trip and fall into the fires of Mount Doom while still holding the One Ring, thus destroying it." What an *******. Why didn't he save everyone the trouble and make Isildor trip. Fvcking God.
I prefer the Star Wars universe. The Lord of the Rings universe is much better written, but it also has a lot less possibilities, I feel. It's basically a complete universe with its story already told and finished.
By comparison, the Star Wars universe is just so much more massive and organic; never ending conclusively really. There will always be new conflicts, new heroes and new dynamics.
A blessing and a curse in a way, since so much EU is shit and basically derivitive of the stories we've already been given (prodigy has hard life, becomes evil, does bad shit, dies or repents and then dies- the never ending cycle). The force and the Jedi are the least interesting aspects of it, imo.
“So, there’s this girl. She’s tragically orphaned and richer than anyone on the planet. Every guy she meets falls in love with her, but in between torrid romances she rejects them all because she dedicated to what is Pure and Good. She has genius level intellect, Olympic-athelete level athletic ability and incredible good looks. She is consumed by terrible angst, but this only makes guys want her more. She has no superhuman abilities, yet she is more competent than her superhuman friends and defeats superhumans with ease. She has unshakably loyal friends and allies, despite the fact she treats them pretty badly. They fear and respect her, and defer to her orders. Everyone is obsessed with her, even her enemies are attracted to her. She can plan ahead for anything and she’s generally right with any conclusion she makes. People who defy her are inevitably wrong.
God, what a Mary Sue.
I just described Batman.”
Interesting. I guess what makes Batman even more of a Sue is that he's still somehow compelling despite that.
Also I should say that the post I got that from was making a point to criticise that kind of thinking. Batmans still awesome.

In the beginning of time, when the Valar fought openly with Melkor and his goons, including Sauron, it destroyed much of the earth and rearranged it. In fact, the Valar were so worried about another fight with Melkor when the Elves woke up that they, with the help of Tulkas, managed to subdue him before any struggle with him would basically wipe out the beginning of sentient life.
When Eru, God that is, stepped in on behalf of the Valar to stop the Numenoreans, he pretty much sank the island itself and banished the Numeanorean fleet to be trapped for all time beneath the waves.
It's pretty explicit that they're not pussies; they are so overwhelmingly powerful as primordial creation beings that they cannot fight amongst each other without cataclysmic damage every time.

Imagine trying to kill a single germ on your window without killing millions.
Such is the dilemma of the Valar.

Because Eru is sort of a **********, and is one of the less well-written aspects of the setting, as is any story with conflict that has a benevolent, allegedly omniscient and omnipotent being.

I dunno, why did Anakin trust some transparently-obvious old man who was a psychopath raving about power rather than the man who almost raised him?
Why did Obi-wan Kenobi basically act inexplicably like a jerkass whenever Anakin was considered?
Why did the rich as **** Jedi Council not deliver Anakin's mother from slavery despite it being beneficial to his health? "Credits have no use here lol".

That is a gross exaggeration of Batman.
I'll take LotR over SW any day.
Star Wars is often fun and sometimes interesting, but little else. LotR is enthralling. A closed, vast, consistently well-written, and detailed story, is much more appealing to me than an open, ever-changing (not "evolving", as in "progressing"--just "changing"😉 setting. I differentiate because Star Wars often doesn't feel like a story, just a setting where a collection of stories happen to take place. The nature of the franchise, with its innumerable contributors over many decades makes it... inconsistent, to say the least. That those stories are often times childish, asinine, base, and poorly written/drawn/executed, doesn't help.

Because he has serious mental instability. Plus he was actually closer to Palpatine than to Obi-Wan. He had tons of resentment towards his mentor who kept holding him back, while Palps always fed his ego. Lastly ~I think he never actually trusted Sidious after his reveal, he was simply doing whatever he said to save Padme.
Probably cuz Anakins a douche and needed reigning in.
They are full of stupid. I guess that just shows how out of touch the Jedi were.

In what way? Batman is basically perfect in every respect other than his shitty personality and jerkishness. He gets away with it though cuz tons of people are superior to him in power, intellect etc so he doesn't seem as over the top as he actually is. Everyones over the top in comics.
