While I think Obsidian is more capable of morally ambiguous and mature writing than Bioware, the fact remains that Mass Effect is a masterpiece in terms of pathos, word building, quality, immersion, and novelty. KotOR doesn't excel in any of these areas in comparison.
How could you hate Joss Whedon while also liking Obsidian's writing?

I mean, I like both, but they're very similar, from what I've said.

Not to be confused with mongoloids, like the actor Nicolas Cage.

Holy shit Nemebro.

AC is a good series, it just isn't nearly as good as you seem to think it is.

Jesus christ nemebro. Are you drunk!?

Rofl.

Ah I see you enjoy juvenile wish-fulfillment Mary Sue protagonists and boring, nondescript supporting characters.

Nah, I prefer games that have interesting plots, good gameplay, and where decisions actually matter.

Give me a good laugh and explain to me how Dragon Age was derivative (This is the proper spelling by the way).

You're kidding right? There is almost nothing unique about the Dragon Age world... The plot is pretty much the generic standard fantasy fare.

One of the most blatant examples is that the Mages are rip offs heavily inspired by the Aes Sedai of WoT. Both go to a special tower to train. Both run the risk of being corrupted and going insane. Both have ways to remove the ability to use magic (gentled/stilled in Wot; tranquil in DA) to prevent said corruption, both have a religious order that keeps them in check, both have a caste based society from beyond the sea that "leashes" mages and treats them as property, etc...

There are plenty of other similarities between the two as well.

Also, name the fantasy series you're a fan of.

LotR, Earthsea, Gentlemen Bastard, GoT, the First Law, Broken Empire, Kingkiller Chronicles, Black Company, etc

Get Avellone's shriveled, unused cock out of your mouth.

Avellone is the very definition of an edgemaster. He couldn't write a believable story with well-adjusted characters if his life depended on it, so he was to go with overly edgy and Joss Whedon-esque sarcastic stories, with an entire cast of dysfunctional characters (... And the Disciple). He does that one thing well, but it is the only thing he can do.

He wrote NV which you suck off at every opportunity.

Dysfunctional characters are interesting characters. Seriously, who wants to talk to a party member in a game who has no problems at all? They'd be like that boring **** Disciple. And his stories aren't sarcastic, he just deconstructs things a lot.

Whedon's writing style from what I have seen comes off as very anvilicious, overly-snarky to the point of distracting, and sometimes campy.

I don't get that impression from Obsidian. It could be that I'm missing some grand piece of work from Whedon, but what I have seen parts of (Buffy, Angel, the Avengers) just reeks of snark-camp, and I can't take it seriously as media. It's just for superficial entertainment value and doesn't invoke any higher reasoning.
All orcs are often described as "slant-eyed" and the Uruk-Hai at least refer to the Rohhirim as 'white skins.' In one of his letters, Tolkien described Orcs as "...squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes; in fact degraded and repulsive versions of the (to Europeans) least lovely Mongol-types."(Letter 210)
Watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Not that it doesn't come across the way you describe, I mean just watch it because of how awesome it is.

Firefly is his magnum opus imo. estahuh

This is the best thing Nathat Fillion has ever done:

Not heard of it. I'll look it up.

I have heard this from many people. And maybe it'll interest me. I'm just saying, from what I've seen so far, Whedon appears grossly overrated, and it's usually that "he's one of us" mentality driving the hype.

lol

No, Angel is his best work. Firefly could have surpassed it in time but couldn't in a mere dozen-odd episodes.

Anyway, Whedon's great because his works typically run a gamut of hilarious to heartbreaking. As opposed to say, Christopher Nolan, who is just overwhelmingly, oppressively LOL DARK & COMPLEX AND ADULT LAWL GRIM!

Whedon's got plenty of complexity and darkness, but has the wisdom and skill to inject his work with humor and levity as well.

Look, here comes one now.

Lol ur mad bro

You weird goth kids can have your One-Note Nolan. I'll stick with my boy Whedon.

You liked Dark Knight enough to watch it a dozen times. Which is obviously why you're so burnt out on the aesthetic.

No doubt that Nolan does his one schtick very well, which is why I love TDK. But Whedon's a master of multiple atmospheres, which is why I like Serenity more.

There are a lot of really bad opinions regarding writing and storytelling in this subforum.
