The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Revan is proof that you don't need to explore every EU element. The reason the character is so popular is because it allowed fat, dumb, insecure nerds to assume the role of an uber-powerful genius warrior lover mechanic tactician guy.

Like Thrawn, less is more.

Fat, dumb, insecure nerds like Drew? He probably thought he was Bane himself all along.

So apparently all pre-Episode VII EU is going to be under the Legends domain, regardless of chronology, including Darth Plagueis.

Legends domain?

Luceno's Prologue for the Plagueis novel is one of the best intros I've ever read in Star wars.

That's what they're calling the extant EU: "Legends." I thought it was going to just be about post-ROTJ EU, but Jennifer Heddle from LucasFilm says even Plagueis is going under that domain, suggesting it all is going.

Sounds stupid.

I'm okay with them wiping the slate clean and starting fresh, so long as the quality of the new stuff is consistently better.

Nah, it owes far more to the game being great than any of that. And the storytelling. The character is built up a lot more competently than you're suggesting. Throughout the game you hear people talk about Revan and he's built up as some legendary villain and mastermind. You see him in flashbacks and, lets be fair, a lot of the reason he's so memorable is his badass design. Then you get a brilliant reveal that YOU are Darth Revan, which instantly gives the player a power trip and is just a very memorable experience. blah blah etc.

But for the entire game you're NOT some genius tactician mechanic. Even after the reveal you're not that person. So thats not really it. Revan's so memorable because of great storytelling and the games popularity, not just a wish-fulfillment.

Nothing Disney can produce will be better then KotOR 1, that plot twist was the biggest in video game history.

KotOR being great (which it is) and Revan's popularity being the result of wish-fulfillment are not mutually exclusive. Fact of the matter is, he's not a defined character, so interest in him is purely the result of wish-fulfillment.

He's a great idea. But he should have been left alone.

Jade empire disagrees!

Nah the plot twist really wasn't all that great and incredibly overrated.

Like I said on another forum, I'm glad it's all going away. Sacrificing the greatest EU creations of all time, Mara Jade and Palleon, is a fair trade for wiping the Vong and all the other post-JA crap off the face of the planet.

What does this mean for ToR and any further expansions?

They'll continue and just be non canon I'd imagine

Yeah. As of now, only the movies and TV series are canon. Then everything released onward will be canon as well per the story group.

So all of the EU is non canon now?

It's all under the Legends domain. Including Plagueis, which was about as high up as you got.

Legends is canon or no?
