Also I've never met a European who thinks "California" when he looks at the US. It's usually NY.

Nope, it's McDonalds.

I usually think of this:

Bout sums it up.

It's not that they think "Ohh, now that's America"
It's that most Europeans have a ridiculous view that all southerners are racist, Texans are fat rednecks, etc. like, imagine all your stereotypes about which states are the Inbreds, or Rednecks, Racists etc. Add that stereotype to ever adjoining state and times it by 20, that's generally the view foreigners have on Americans.

Whereas all people think when they hear California is the glamor that it gets in the Media, in films or TV, as well as the fact every tourist loves it since all they see is Yosemite, San Francisco and all the great places like that.

I don't know if any of you know anything about the UK, but in comparison it's like the difference between Croyden and St Albans in most peoples eyes.

Pretty funny tbh. So what's the stereotype for Floridians?

Considering LA is in California, and that no one is thinking of a random town in NY state, this is kind of contradictory.

Maybe he meant NYC lol.

Yes, NYC is synonymous with NY since that's what people think of when they say NY.

Kinda trampy, but generally nice.

It's more a stereotype about who goes to Florida on holiday 😛

I get that, but it's kind of contradictory to say, "No one thinks of California, they think of New York City and Los Angeles," isn't it?

@Sel What's wrong with that? Lots of shit to do there.

Dunno, I've only been once, but most people think that going to Florida is like a copout because people go to Disney land and shit, which isn't America?

I don't really get the reasoning behind it, I'm just the messenger 😛

Disney is an American company.

California is nice if you want to go broke living in some nice areas because the expenses there are outrageous. California is also nice if you are desperately clinging to the hope that you're a progressive, enlightened, unique snowflake.

Texas is nice if you want to make the most money while having the highest standard of living possible.

Also I've never met a European who thinks "California" when he looks at the US. It's usually NY.

According to Forbes Washington State has the overall best standard of living of the states. Texas comes in second.

LA is part of California. It's the most populous city in it, in fact.

Most parts of Florida are pretty nice, except for the northern part. Of course I have a bias against anything that close to Alabama and southern Georgia.

For those of you not in the know, nemebro works part time for Factcheck.

Georgia is a terrible place full of terrible people.

Edit: And I'm not gonna let this forum be dictated by facts.
