The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

maybe the debating is too serious. Knightfalls comment from above makes sense. At the end of the day, its still fiction. a lot of it still open for interpretation, and opinion. We aren't always going to agree, and if there is anything we've never learned to do, is to agree to disagree.
There really isn't truly right or wrong.

i know i don't take it that seriously. I don't think i've ever been truly upset over anything posted about me. (well, maybe that thread where we talked about politics for 25 pages... but that's different)

Gideon, promise you man, i've never targeted you. I'm an equal opportunity disagreer. You notice though, i rarely say " i'm right, and you're wrong, end of story" over anything in a gray area. Most of it is just expressing a different opinion based on the same facts that you already know, intepreted differently.

i just tried to argue for the people i thought were cooler if it was anywhere near plausible... if not, i argued for the people i thought would defenitely win.

It was all good clean fun to me 😉

Thief. *Snipes Nemesis in the head*

I told ya I would do it.

And Gideon, anywayz, just a suggestion- try to keep around for a while before (if) you leave. I've had stuff like that before- you might suddenly have a re-ignition and want to debate more and more.

And what the hell are the TFN people doing?

being geeks... duh.

He's part of the reason I'm thinking about retiring. And Enyalus, Truejedi, and (to a greater extent) the morons at TFN.

It seems like, anymore, people go out of there way to disagree with me. It wouldn't normally be a problem, but ever since you and I argued with Enyalus and Great Vengeance for ten pages on that one thread, my patience with people has been so very limited.

And it's not so much that they disagree but they seemingly have no valid point whatsoever.

The guys at TFN? Jesus Christ. You should see the argument I'm having with them about the abolishment of the psuedo-Sith post-RotJ.

Edit: Great. I'm banned for the third friggin' time.

Weakling.

I went 'rounds with a guy for over 40+ pages in a Samus vs. Master Chief thread before I got tired of debating. Debating with children who's primary argument in the Chief's favor being "But Samus is a woman!" is much more taxing to one's health than Enyalus shenanigans.

Though he can be irritating.

Pft.

The amount of pages I argued with BT on random Kain debate numbers 1-over 9,000 greatly outnumber that pathetic excuse you call a "debate."

Cause I'm 1337, and by 1337, I mean I have no real social life and debate fictional characters to fill the gap in my soul.

I'm glad you guys are somewhat tame now. The ComicVs. is a headache. I just remembered why I hadn't done anything serious with my mod powers in awhile. People get unhappy on the internet and expect us to make it all better.

Just when I thought about giving humanity anouther chance, a fresh start to prove to me that it isn't filled with Morally-retarded bas*rds and human-animal cross-breeds, it turns round and takes a great big dump on me.

How you ask. Well, some c*ck hacked onto my school login and deleted all of my carefully presented word documents and interests. What. A. Douch. The SOB even deleted my personal statement that I needed to get into University. What. A. Sh*t.

I'm sooooo pissed off right now.

Luckily, technology saved me. The clever people in the IT department managed to salvage the deleted work and the wonder of CCTV caught the arse. Charlie Wood, You are a N*b. A big cheesy one.

I'd like to send my thanks to the marvel of technology and tell those damn hippies slowing down progress to stop. Just stop. You know who you are...... Gideon.

Any thoughts?

um.... Yes. I have a thought.

Do i want american or swiss on my next sandwich? what to do. what to do..

So Alan kicked a lot of ass on Boston Legal tonight.

Yeah. How long has it been since he and Jerry had a scene together? Also, I expected the 'wooden cigar' to make an appearance.

I do believe the last time he and Jerry had a true scene together was in season three when he reverted to "evil Alan" and berated, reprimanded, and humiliated Jerry when he was opposing council.

But he's one of my favorite characters, I'm glad they kept him. I also love to here people fellate Alan and mention that, though he loses quite often, he is actually the most skilled lawyer to grace the show. Very feared.

And thank God they also bring up how unethical he was. I was afraid DEK forgot Shore was a prick.

Jerry is definitely the best. His 'office affair' with Katie is just great. She keeps his wooden cigarette from becoming annoying. I did not like his sister until she praised him. They wrote his character well enough to evoke an irrational response against his attackers- that takes skill. Maybe House should poach some of BI's writers.

Boston Legal's writers are thousands upon thousands of miles better than House's in terms of content. I'm glad someone else doesn't share the opinion that because someone can write really clever one-liners, that doesn't make them Shakespearian-class writers.

Alan Shore remains the greatest orator in television history.

I didn't like that he admitted to the bet. Was it calculated, or a slip of the tongue? Either way, it'll cause problems later.

It could be either. The great thing about Alan is that both Wade and Shirley were correct in their assessments of him: he has always been disturbingly unethical, but he is also remarkably principled. He does bad things for the right reasons and is the ultimate mercenary, throwing himself and his career on the line.

Not that it matters, since Judge Fudd knew anyways.

He does bad things for the right reasons

Are you saying that the ends justify the means? Isn't that what Alan rebels against in many of his tirades against the government's idiocy (any time that he wants something to happen and it doesn't, really.)

Not that it matters, since Judge Fudd knew anyways.

As much as I'd like to throw out a one-liner, I can't think of an appropriate remark. The only one that comes to mind is Plausible Deniablity, but that doesn't really apply in this case.

Would it have been possible for him to claim that the bet never took place?

I never said I agreed with his stance, but yes, Alan has certainly subscribed to that Machiavellian philosophy.

Know who is better than Judge Fudd? Judge Dread!

...Someone say something about Machiavellian philosophy? I've got The Prince and The Art of War...let's talk shop.

I'll stop by the library for The Art of War and we can have a quote war!
