That's about right.

Spoiler:
'Lord Shadowspawn' is an alias for Palpatine's Emperor's Hand, Cronal, ex-head of Imperial Intelligence. His thoughts on Palpatine are pretty funny. Nick Rostu is one of Cronal's pawns. As is Kar Vastor.
Spoiler:
Does Kar Vastor fight and/or die?
Spoiler:
He does. He is possessed by Cronal when his attempt to possess Luke and then Leia fails. It's a brief scuffle, and he attempts to flee. Rostu, Vastor, and Cronal all survive the book.

What were his thoughts on Palpatine?

That sounds lame. Does Luke do anything cool?

Spoiler:
He considers Palpatine to be a fool for trying to make the Dark (Cronal's title for the Force) serve him; he believes that the Dark is fundamentally opposed to creation; he reasons that civilizations, republics, and empires all rise and fall -- only destruction is constant. And so when Palpatine brought down the Republic and the Jedi, the Dark was with him; there "was no way for him to fail." But when Palpatine attempted to build the Empire, "there was no way for him to succeed" because "when you turn your back on the Dark, the Dark turns its back on you."

Cronal also believes he manipulated Sidious into sending him into seclusion to the Outer Rim same way Thrawn believed he manipulated Sidious into sending him to the Unknown Regions. He does, however, regard Palpatine as being insanely powerful and also mentions him as "the great Darth Sidious." He also muses that he had to get reassigned to the Outer Rim so that he could plot "away from the entirely too keen vision, both physical and mystic, of Palpatine himself."

At what time does this story take place?

No one manipulates Sidious. No one. lol

Did he really manipulate Sidious, or did Sidious make him believe that?

What is up with all of the KotOR hate these days?

Look it up, *****. 5.5 ABY.

Edit: Wow, how the hell did three people post at once?

As Mara says in the Dark Nest Trilogy when Saba Sebatyne asks if this one dude "really believed he could deceive the Emperor?"

Mara replies: "You'd be surprised at how many people thought they could."

Personally? I doubt it. I don't doubt that he could have possibly deceived the Emperor in terms of Palpatine not knowing why Cronal wanted to be out there, but I doubt he manipulated him directly into the reassignment.

Of course, for the record, Cronal thinks all this shit but never says it. And he ends up back in Palpatine's service by 10 ABY.

Basically, like Vader and Dooku, he only has the balls to think this when he's half way across the galaxy or dead.

Answer my question, tool: Does Luke do anything cool?

Yes. The whole book. He doesn't exactly go Starkiller on some ass, but the entire book is extremely well written.

Stover writes an amazing Han, Luke, Leia, and even Lando. He's the best author, period, LFL has.

Anything cool that's relevant to the Versus forum?

Not really.

Oh.

Does anyone do anything cool and relevant to the Versus forum? I was looking forward to something Shatterpoint-ish, here.

Not really, no.

The story is amazing, but Cronal's not interested in acquired strength in terms of technique and feats. All we get is a lot of fellating about Luke's, Leia's, and Vastor's strength in the Force.

Such as...?

And would you rate this as on par with Shatterpoint?

Finally, I have been wondering what became of Vastor for ages now.

Rather than as a writer, What's Stover like as a storyteller? Anything comparable to The Drew? Because good writing means nothing to me, I only care for the storyline whenever I'm reading a piece of fiction.

First off, how are you (how is he- I don't expect a response from him) still posting? That name is supposed to be off limits since "another" user already has it!

Second, 'The Drew' is a terrible writer. His sentence structure is terrible, his plotline was obvious from a mile away and Bane is possibly the least compelling creation in the mythos. (Revan excepted.) The books aren't good.
