The same things happen if someone introduces a homo/bisexual character/relationship and then the straights moan about how it was unneeded. Like I wanna have to watch over the cliche we fight, but we make up cuz we're so good for each other unneccesary heterosexual plot lines that appear in so many films and media nowadays.

IMO films should stick to the established canon no matter what, basically. But boycotting it because they changed the main character to black seems a little much, especially considering that Idris Elba is apparently really good in the role.

Most bizarre version of that I heard was when there was a lot of outrage from SJWs when they didn't cast an Asian dude to play Iron Fist... even though Iron Fist is white in the comics.

Honestly, if the actor does an awesome job of portraying the character and his personality, then the general sexualization or race of said character really is unimportant to me.

Change a white character Roland into a black guy- grrrr detalis

Like Luke cage for example. If they made him a white guy that would be bs. Him being black is an integral part of his character. If they wanted to make him gay, that would be different. I could care less because that wouldn't change the essence of who Luke cage is. Luke has always been a minority looking out for the underprivileged. Make him white and he is no longer that anymore.

On the flip side u have red skul. U can't have him be a black dude before his face is transformed. Being a white Nazi is the core of his character.

Other examples would be Perry white and kingpin. Michael Clark Duncan played kingpin and that was no problem in my eyes. Being white isn't a core component of kingpins character. Being massive and physically intimidating are, and Duncan encapsulates that perfectly.

They were central to the plot of the second book and how his interactions with people from the early 1900's certainly would have been very different given the racism that existed in those times. It was completely unnecessary. And you're a huge fu'cking hypocrite btw. If a white actor had been cast to play a black character you would be screaming your little head off.

It's not about skin color or sexual tendencies. It's about being accurate to the details of the original work.

I don't really care if the author approved of blackwashing though. I care about the people making the adaption getting the details of the original work right.

The guy who wrote Ender's Game ( one of the best scifi novels ever written ) is a huge anti-homosexual. If he'd ok'ed the adaption of his movie having stereotypes that made gay people look stupid and evil I wouldn't be ok with that either.
