At this point, Obama can kiss the Democratic party goodbye come midterm elections. He has been an epic fail from day 1.

QFT
i gave him the benefit of the doubt until he signed that first bill with all the pork in it, after one of his campaign promises was to not do so.
When he put lobbyists in his administration, after promising to remove them from washington, I was doubly finished.

Record budget deficit record deficit spending, can this guy do anything right? Who the hell told him we could "spend our way" out of the depression? Fool
Hmm, I've read six different articles on the budget plan and have yet to get a straight answer. There are some things I like. Higher taxes for those making 250k or more is cool in my book. In fact anything that starts killing the absurd divide in American between the top 20% and the bottom 80% is cool in my book. Not that higher taxes are going to really make a dent in the mega rich.
However, I have to ask, where is all this money coming from and how will it eventually payed off?
Is there a long term plan? All the articles mentioned such a plan, but they didn't give a lot of information on it.
And most importantly, what would a Republican be doing any different and why would that supposedly be better (or not) than what Obama is doing?

If Ron Paul was in office, he would have abolished the fed and put us back on the gold standard, which means long term economic prosperity. The Republicans most certainly wouldn't have increased government spending.

Why is it cool in your book? Why must the wealthy get taxed for being wealthy while the poor get accomodations for being poor?
This.
I have never made more than 15k a year (student still, at this point), but my family is below poverty level. However, it SICKENS me when people sit there with their hands out and expect for other people to pay for their well-being.
I'll work 60 hours a week before I feel like I have a right to something that doesn't belong to me.
The fewer poor you have, then you have less social issues that come along with having poor. Having lots of poor people is just bad for any nation. This should be kind of obvious.
Granted I doubt Obama's tax plans are really going to do anything. However, the absurd divisions in wealth need to be fixed and the shrinking middle class needs to be fixed as well.

Obama is screwing over the middle class as we speak. I'm not making high 6 figures a year but I don't resent the rich. They did something to get where they are, and I don't think they should be punished for that.

And giving handouts is better? I'm not saying everyone who is poor is poor because he did nothing with his life, but I would say that about more people than not. And we have rich people with social issues as well, committing white collar crimes, so I don't think improving the socioeconomic situations of the poor is the best idea, especially at the expense of the rich, who did something to get there.Obama is screwing over the middle class as we speak. Have you ever actually taken a Social Problems class? Hell, even Intro to Sociology would cover this.
People speak of "earning" their way to top and working hard etc. They fail to understand just how difficult it is to make ends meet when all of your money is going to bills/survival. People shouldn't have to work sixty hours a week to survive as truejedi so proudly claims he could do if he had to.
I've seen what that does to people. Its stressful, straining, hard on families, hard on education. It creates a host of social problems that no "white collar" criminal is ever going to understand.
America, the richest developed nation out there has some of the ugliest demographics in the western world. The western European states regularly enjoy better standards of living, better life expectancy, healthcare, education and overall quality of life.
I'm not arguing for a completely equal society, such a thing is not possible, despite what the Communists and pure socialists believe.
I am arguing for a less stratified and divided society. The states of Western Europe still have their rich and their poor, but the gradient is much less severe.

So instead of taxing the rich, there are many other ways to go about helping the poor. This starts with having surpluses, not depending on the wealthy to get your country out of the jam you keep making worse.
