I have to say, soccer referees are the worst out of any sport ever created by mankind. These guys are so stupid that they actually award divers, when diving has become the main part of soccer. You might get only a handful of refs who actually card divers, but the percentages are staggering and it's embarrassing for the sport. THe only reason Italy are even in this game against lowly New Zealand is because of their acting abilities and the incompetence of the ref.

Well. If you're talking about the USA - Slovenia game - you're probably right. Stolen goal...rofl...
Still. Simply have a look at the "foul" that Klose received his yellow card for. That's laughable. Same can be said for some cards that Serbia received in the very same game. At the end Schweinsteiger was just laughing at the referee, when he received his yellow card.
The guy managed to hand out five yellow cards in the first 30 minutes of the match - a total of eight being handed out in the end and the red card for Klose. He basically draw a fvcking card for every foul on the field. Likewhise he blew the whistle for every damn tackle in the game - he completely erased any one-on-one play.
He destroyed the match far more than the referee in the US game. That guy did just make the worse mistake...

I wasn't sarcastic. I agree to you that the stolen goal was probably the worst mistake a referee made during this World Cup so far...
Klose's foul WAS a foul but I agree it didn't warrant another yellow, but that would hardly be one of the worst calls of this tournament. Second place has to go to the amazing acting skills of Ivory Coast today, that cost Kaka a red card. He gently tapped the guy in his chest, and the guy fell back and held his face. What can you expect from a French ref though? Another awful call was the penalty given to De Rossi. The Italians are the best floppers in the world and they continue getting credit for it by the incompetent FIFA refs.
The foul that Klose received his first yellow card for was the actual stupid decission. One could give the second yellow card for what close did - I wouldn't have done it as a referee but that's debateable. Yet he received the first card for accidentally (clearly) touching the feets of a guy running in front of him when he wanted to keep up. That's ridiculous.
And I lol'd at the stupidity of the ref that gave Kaka the second card today. That was completely ridiculous.
Yet Germany had MANY opportunities to score. I see why you're conveniently ignoring the shanked penalty by Podoloski.
Well. Germany remained the better team, even 10 on 11. We could have won, and I believe we would have won, had Podolski scored with the penalty. That wasn't the point...
It's not even close Nai. One guy made it a 10 on 11 match which was actually more even then, and Germany had its MANY chances. The other one completely erased a goal based on a call nobody understands. Again, no comparison.
See. I don't want to figure out who made the worst single mistake. That was the guy in the US game. No doubt about it. My point was that the ref in the German game not only handed out cards without any reason, he pretty much ruined the entire game from the first minute to the last. Not because Germany lost. I was impressed with most of the stuff I saw, even though they had one player less on the field. The referee simply destroyed the flow of the game, which simply wasn't fun to follow.
I totally agree then. I'm embarrassed by this year's world cup. It's the worst I've seen thus far. The diving has reached a ridiculous climax and refs can't seem to differentiate between real fouls and dives. Not to mention, goal scoring is down as well, so naturally the athletes blame it on the new ball. Thank God Argentina and Brazil are in this tournament, otherwise I would be falling asleep at every game.
