We never handed the Americans their assess. And by "we" I mean the locals of British North America. The militia took part, sure. But it was the presence of British commanders like Brock and British regulars that did the handing of the ass during the invasion. We also never burned Washington. That was the British again. Canadians like to prop themselves up by saying we defeated America once, when really, it was thanks to the British. And it was a stalemate. ANd then there was New Orleans...
