If you haven't started playing it yet though I'd recommend playing through Xenogears first, as while there's no official link between the two, it's pretty clear that the Xenosaga series is largely what the creators had in mind for Episode I of the Xenogears saga (the game Xenogears is Episode V of that saga), and that there would be an official link if not for the fact that Square Enix own the rights to the Xenogears brand. So while technically they don't belong to the same series or universe they can be thought of as doing so, and as Xenogears was released first it was clearly intended to be the first part of the story.
Well I'm not going to pretend that I'm not extremely dissapointed and slightly devestated by those comments but where abouts in the story are you out of curiosity? Things move pretty slowly to begin with as the game introduces you to the characters and starts to slowly establish elements of the setting but even then the story is nothing if not incredibly intruiging.
Well when I wrote that the the Gnosis were just about to attack, so I'd just gone through about 4 hours of tutorials and cutscenes and Shion being annoying and ditsy. Now, I'm at the bit where Ziggy's rescuing MOMO. Ziggy's cool, I like him and KOS-MOS is utterly badass, but I'm still in cutscene hell.

Thats what I said. The acting is terrible and the plot is often weak and pretty much every episode ends with Doctor technobabbling his way out of the situation, but its still fun to watch. That does not stop it from being shit though.
