I'm being facetious, but ultimately it comes down to Voldemort with ranged spells that can potentially kill on contact versus TK which all Force users can use that can hit him before he hits first. Also, Jedi have superhuman reflexes and precognition of events, meaning that they can see things happen and avoid them. I don't see Voldemort slinging a spell and getting away with it before a Jedi is in his face with a saber or is Force pushing him against a wall.

Who would you bet on in a fight: The Movie wizards or the Book wizards?
Taking the supplementary books into consideration as well as implied powers, I would maybe go with the book versions. If it comes to arguing "on screen feats" (thus done in the narration and not just hinted at), I'd probably go with the movie ones. But I don't think it would be that clear.

You may be correct. I didn't reread the book since 2007 and don't have it at hand to look it up.

I would accept Quan's challenge (if it hasn't been accepted already), except I feel there are individuals here who could argue the SW cause much better than I could, and have greater access to evidence/sources.
Pm me and if you have msn messenger include your msn id as it will speed up the process so as we are both on.

Don't debate Quan. He is terrible at it and you could get the same results with a brick wall and your head.

Just the movie versions? That's just ridiculously unfair for Star Wars. I'll think about it and let you know as soon as possible. I'll have to first see if I can even successfully argue it. I'll pm you soon.

Remember you're the only one so far who has seen this with the faith to represent the force/dark side. I'd let you argue for any other jedi/sith in the movies as well if you think someone other than Sidious has a better chance.
I hope you're up to the challenge, star wars needs you when confronted by the darkest wizard of the harry potter mythos. Can the ultimate sith stand up to him ?
Answer the call. I hope you don't disappoint. I await your pm with anticipation.

Coward, you say? And how do you call a guy desperately trying to start a fight he can't lose? There is no character in the SW movies that can content with HP mages. End of story.
In general it's absolutely stupid to argue "movie only" for the Star Wars universe because 99 % of the feats, especially the powerful ones, happen outside of the movies. In Sidious case, you have some telekinesis and force lightning in the movies, where he takes apart entire fleets of starships and tears the fabric of space-time apart in his incarnation in the expanded universe.
So no wonder, that nobody wants to argue in your spite thread. Give me a call when you want to discuss the topic with the Star Wars Expanded Universe counting. Then I will put you in your place. 😉

Fecal matter has just transitioned from an abstract concept to a literal configuration.

Too queer, Neph. As much as I admire worshipping from my underlings, it shouldn't be carried to excess.

Don't argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. I mean...

This is completely true, but it's fun to argue a debate that you know you have no chance of winning. Reminds me of Theoden from ROTK movie:
Gamling: Too few have come. We cannot defeat the armies of Mordor.
Theoden: No. We cannot. But we will meet them in battle nonetheless.
