Roki Kem seems to be a popular senator but nobody (unless you're an idiot) knows that she's Abeloth. That includes the Lost Tribe. Vol comes to the planet to kill her and the next morning, Workan(2nd in command) gets a knock on his door. He opens it and sees Kem holding vol's decapitated head. Major pwnage.
Spoiler:
Holy fvck. Is there any mention of the actual fight? I'm pretty sure Vol is an extraordinarily badass Sith.

No mention of the fight. Vol is #1 in the Lost Tribe and is mentioned as having power close to Luke's.

He's mentioned as having power close to Luke's? Damn. I'd love that quote, because I was hoping to see more of the old bastard before he bit it.

I forget the specific quote but if you want it i'll get it to you tomorrow. Not going to sift through the ebook hours before international flight. But I'm 100% that was the quote or a variation of it.

Do you recommend it? Because FOTJ has seriously sucked ass thus far, IMHO.

Absolutely because I think I now see the big picture and that since the beginning of LOTF, it's been leading up until the final book next year. If that's how they planned it, they're geniuses. If not, they're morons who got lucky.

Good, then I'm gonna pick it up.

I'm so glad I never read these books.

I just wouldn't be surprised if it was the later.

Me too. I don't bother reading about the NJO. For some reason, I can't stand reading about the Solos and Skywalkers and all their family drama.

I do wish to read Drew's Revan, however.

Yeah, I wanna read that one just for my inner kotor-fanboy. Last month I got the Old Republic novels out of the library and just couldn't bring myself to read them. Probably because this forum got me into the EU in the first place and now that its not going so well.... meh.

Should I bother with them online?

The strange thing about the films-to-novel transitions is that the OT heroes, I find, make poor novel (and video-game) characters. The post-Endor debacle, New Republic, NJO etc., doesn't make for an interesting read, and neither do the trial and tribulations of Luke, Han, and Leia. Chewbacca dieing was the one glorious moment of the OT protagonists. Lando excluded, because Lando is always awesome.

The PT on the other hand is only made better with the novels/TV shows. It's like they already featured characters of such vapidity, that any fleshing out of their backgrounds and personalities is a step up. It's the opposite for the OT. They were such great characters in the films, that every attempt to flesh them out just sullied them.

Well my view is that the OT characters were always grounded in a sense of reality and te feeling of the OT has always been as such because of the limitation of the tech as well as just a simply difference in tone and cinematography. Thus when they're brought into the silliness of the EU with its higher power and competence level, superpowers and crazy storylines they come off as less human than they do in the movies.

And of course the PT is the complete opposite. The PT was highly unrealistic and artificial. Without the offputting 'cleanness' of the visuals they flourish, as well as just having a higher level of writing of course.

Couldn't agree with you more on that final line. 👆

I agree with both of your posts wholeheartedly.

The Skywalkers and Solos are not compelling in the EU, and it's more unbearable because every plotline has them at the forefront.

Ascension is a fairly good read thus far, which means it has nothing in common with pretty much the entirety of its series. Great to see Vol in action.

We all need to make a pilgrimage here one day to complete our lives.

I have lived in this city my entire life, and yet I was completely unaware of this. 😐 How.

Kristi Noem is hot. Dumbass, but hot. She's got that kind of elegant look.

To be fair, it was built back in 2005, relatively new. If you still live in San Francisco, go take a mini-trip over there and snap a picture next to Yoda.

She looks like a slightly better looking version of one of my old high school teachers. God, she was a b*tch.

Spoiler:
It's official. Darish Vol is one badass mutherfvcker. Resisting Abeloth's attempts to merge and singlehandedly wounding her in a psychic battle? He shall be missed.

I saved myself the time and read Ascension's plot recap on Wookiepedia. Therefore, I have slight understanding as to what you are talking about lol.
