^the problem i have with that is how can one regenerate from suffocation? wounds, burns dismemberment sure, but suffocation? he's deprived of one of the basic elements needed to live.
how about food and water deprivation? could he be starved to death? or die of thirst? without food, how would one regenerate from that as food in needed for the body to regenerate and heal
no food, no water, no air means no energy to run the body. its so simple that it seems stupid.
unless wolverine is like solar powred or cosmic powered etc. imo, he could starve to death or be suffocated.
A friend once theorized that if Wolverines body were to be destroyed in some way that he couldn't regenerate, he could possibly regenerate from a hair fibre or skin cell most likely left on his pillow or something. Don't know how feasible this is, sounds good but his adamantium skeleton would not regenerate.

Well my friend covers this up by saying that he would only regenerate from his cells and hair when he has to (i.e. when he dies), otherwise it remains dormant.
Means those discarded cells would have to have some sort of non-physical connection to the body, be it psychic, spiritual or other.
I don't like this theory.

^^^The cells you shed from skin are dead already, as the outer layer of skin is dead. Hair isn't even made of cells its made from keratin produced from hair follicles so he couldn't regenerate from that
If the hair i pulled with the root, there's viable DNA. Just saying, watched CIS before.
wolverine can't die.....you guys are talking about him regenerating from his cells which is impossible, besides even if he was thrown into the sun all his body cells would not be destroyed because his adamantium skull would prevent his brain from being destroyed, and as answers to the idiots in the 1st page if the had even used her full power against wolverine she could not destroy the adamantium......and let me make one thing clear to all you guys adamantium a metal so strong that it can withstand anything and in "Ultimate Wolverine vs Ultimate Hulk Nick fury cut Wolverine's head off and put it in a vacuum chamber. There is no oxygen.no air,not even a particle of dust in there but wolverine survived,as a matter of fact he even talked to fury from within the chamber. Also in the movie "X-men Origins Wolverine" he is submerged under water to establish the adamantium and he stays for a while, It is also clear he dies momentarily then comes back to life so drowning I would also say no. Can he die from hunger, I again say no, because the stomach acid would eat away at your stomach but then would heal. Also as shown in the movie "X-men Origins Wolverine" two adamantium bullets penetrated his skull but still the adamantium regenerated so even if silver samurai cut through him he will regenerate. And about dieing from age,it takes wolverine 300 years to gain 50 years of age, and even is he was 200 years old he would not die because people don't die from age, they die from a disease but his healing factor prevents it.And in "What if ---Wolverine enemy of the state"kitty pulled out his brain,he didn't die because his other organs were intact.
Now thre is also the fact you can shoot him with the anti mutant bullets that appear in The last stand, the ones made from leech, but then he wouldn't really be Wolverine anymore so.
In a conclusion Wolverine is the only character in the X-men universe or at least good guys who has not at some point been killed. yes they had alternate versions of the comics where at one point everyone has been killed once, except Wolverine!
So I would say no Wolverine can not be killed......\ | /

I hope so.

So how did Fury get through his adamantium spinal column? I'm assuming Wolverines spinal column is adamantium of course.
We don't know, it happened off-panel. It's Ultimate Universe anyway. That version of Wolverine got his pinkie cut off, his arm and leg ripped off and he got even ripped in half. His adamantium skeleton is obviously not interconnected.
