They had both already initiated combat. Sidious had just blasted Yoda with lightning. He could see Yoda getting up. He knew that Yoda was going to do something. He wasn't caught by surprise.
And the defence against both techniques is the same, force resistance, so point moot about TK and drain being different techniques.
I really doubt Sidious would've missed learning about one of the Triumvirate in his extremely thorough researches, especially as the Exile and his companions, in the new order likely would've mentioned her. And if NJO and Dark Nest taught us anything, there's no such thing as a gray Jedi. Kreia, by her own admission relies on the force and to quote Atton: "You don't get more Sith than that." if Kreia's not using the dark side here, will she be able to even pull off an instakill against someone as strong as Sidious who's gotten direct training from people she claims make her look like a child with a toy?
What are you hinting at? That somehow Sidious learned the instant kill technique, the "technique to which there was NO defence" and did not decide to use it against Yoda, his most hated enemy? Absolutely ridiculous. Sure, ignore the fact that Yoda never heard about such a technique and would not be able to counter it unless he was a hole in the force. Yup Sidious had it, it is just that he was too lazy to use it. 😆
Find a new technique in the force, develop something...same as Mace found a way to channel inner darkness, find a way to block a draining attack in the force. And if it can't be blocked, circumvent it. There's no technique of the dark side that's 100 percent infallible.
The technique used by Traya isn't a hundred percent infallible. The Exile, due to his nature was able to counter. That could be one of the many reasons why Traya did not use it in their final battle (or simply one of the many emotional complications between the two)

Where is the proof that there is no defence or that a defence wasn't developed later on? Kreia's words is not law, just because she didn't know a defence doesn't mean it didn't exist OR that it was developed later on. As lightsnake has said before, why wouldn't the jedi create a defence against an attack that fatal that could kill them all and almost did?

Hmm...or maybe the instakill's just not being honest, she does that sometimes.
And since Yoda has a defense against just about every dark side technique, hmm...safe to say it was developed later on. Especially as it's been directly stated Sidious has it and used it...in fact, he was the FIRST PERSON TO EVER USE IT. But Kreia's word IS TEH LAW! Never mind how she was wrong about numerous other things
