As well the fact is Despero took on the JLA and beat them Thanos can and has done stuff like that. MM was MIND RAPED doesn't even sound lik he put up much of a fight. If it had been a giant battle of wills evenly matched where despero was a little better but it sounds like he was a full head and shoulders above MM.
Thanos can do those things. I can't think of many people below him that all at once could do those things.
my opinion on the mentioned characters: warlock fine -- no soul rip.
morg wol -- don't know
8th day: prolly yes
genis -- i actually have more of a problem with him. before he went insane didn't he sort of match up with king thor?
damn, the rules state sub-thanos. not necessarily the same thing as herald.
and so, no one has given a solid, irrefutable reason to ban despero.

you're wrong on 2 counts, newjak:
1. he didn't take down the whole jla. not in v&v (where johnny sorrow was his ally and so were the 7 deadly sins) or in the more recent arc jla arc. red tornado stepped in and of course zatanna stopped him. could zatanna stop thanos so easily? i'd HIGHLY doubt it . . .
and mm DID put up a fight. in the old jla arc, the new jla arc and even in v&v. but yes, in the end, despero WAS more powerful. is mm the limit then on tp?

The thing I just don't like in Despero is telepathy. Don't get me wrong. I don't like telepathy in any character. It just devolves the discussion into "My character can mindrape yours with ease" "Nuh-Uh" "Yeah he can" "Nah" "Show me proof that he can't" "Show me that he can" "Stupid Retard" "Says you" and so on.
