Nope , if they make it in the right way. Surely, superman and superman 2 were great, two of the greatests comic books movies of all time, and thats is a clear reference. But only see an example, chris nolan with batman begins. He forgot the burton/schumacher franchise and restart the saga with his movie, doing a fresh and original point of view with the movie.
In the superman case, the base of the past movies is clearly better than the batman ones, and its more difficult to forget. I mean, Chris Reeve was superman. But i think that Brian Singer could do something more fresh and more original than the movie that he did. The story base is clearly the same that the original, same with luthor plan, same with most of the dialogue, etc.
