Sentry Respect Thread

Being in the dissenting party doesn't mean you can't post in respect threads. But it should be kept to relevant discussion of feats and appearances. Blanket statements like this:

sentry appears out of nowhere and catches a bullet fired at normon osbourne from a higher powered skrull sniper rifle four miles away by punisher (normal sniper guns shoot bullets at about mach 5):

frank tries to escape and uses loads of weapeon on sentry but to no avail ...explosives, bullets,acid!("I'll be lucky if it messes his hair"😉:

sentry wants to do it the easy way... he proceeds to rip a large metal platform and push around frank:

Punisher has a decoy bomb in hospital which sentry must reach in 4 seconds and he returns quickly and finds frank's escaped ... i think he then uses heat vison to fry the handcuffs:

he then finds franks base quickly but its been deserted:

There are few (if any) Superman wannabes/rip offs that don't.

Hyperion is very original though. He has ATOMIC vision

This hillbilly drunk some irritated water and gained super strength/durability. Sentry beats him by making him literally sweat it out, they fight for almost an hour.

It seems the writers are moving him closer and closer to "basic Superman analogue". The heat vision isn't the only example.

It's really a shame because there are so many other places they could take his character that aren't quite so... derivative.

He could be discovering new abilities all the time. He brought his wife back from the dead without knowing how. That instability in his power set needs to keep getting played up.
Other Superman analogues at Marvel at least are far from the regular everyday goings on. Sentry is right in the thick, and they're pushing the parallels too much, just when I was starting to see him as a different character. I know he generates a strong light source, but turning that into 'heat vison'? Come on.

Sentry looked wicked in those Punisher scans. Nice to see Sentry change his stance of getting beat by the villain of the week trend. I want him to one shot some heralds. >=\

I could not agree more. sentry is an actual superman and not a super alien (like a certain dc character that is awsome) they could have done (and i thought were doing) such great and different things with sentry. His powers (besides flight speed and strength) were different then sups in that it was a lot more energy based. and the complexities of writing a character that has a mental disorder. and was a human with powers not a higher being of some kind. He just needs a good writer.

He needs a miracle .... The concept of the Sentry; a Godlike being with a mental disorder will NEVER work in a universe where morality is absolute, and the modal power level is comparable to a tank. Even if you put him in the D.C. universe, he's basically Black Adam with the powers of Superman. Been there done that ... Kill him already. Marvel should stop giving into the demands of fans who believe that comics are a sporting competitons between companies.
