Certainly, I agree it could be used. It could work really well if both plotted to backstab the other (Talia thinking him little more than a violent, expendable thug and underestimating him, and Bane having his own scheme to usurp control of the League of Shadows).
What do you think about Bane's costume, Bardock? Would it translate? Would he wear something more Ubu-ish, a la Legacy? Or something entirely new?

I think his costume would mostly work, really. Maybe with some slight additions on the upper body.

How about something more armor like? Even with those muscles, he's not invincible.

Yeah, some sort of armor would probably not be bad, as long as it's not Iron Man.

I meant something similar to Batman's...something that's not too much armor, and not too less. It'd be cool if it were black with red highlights.

Can you specify more how you envisage this armour would be? I think what you're suggesting may work, I'm just not sure quite how it would work, yet...
EDIT: Just saw you're above post. That could work, though it might look somewhat, ah, silly, if he were to wear it with really huge, comic-esque muscles. I think he'd have to be slightly smaller than he is in the comics if he wears such armour, or he'd look like something designed by Joel Schumacher.

Well, I doubt the guy is gonna be super huge, since CGI will most certainly have to play a factor in him bulking up. He just needs to be a good actor and be ripped when normal, and then CGI can come in for the rest.

This won't work because then he'd be Hulk sized. I say make him about 6'5-6'8 and weigh in around 255-300 lbs. We don't want the guy to be too big.

Next is the search for a big guy who can actually act (and no, we don't want the Rock). And that's actually a pretty damn cool picture of Bane. Is that from Vengeance of Bane or somesuch?

Not sure, I found it on Google earlier this year...not sure where it's from. And I'd never want any wrestler to portray Bane again. We need someone big, and talented. Hell, they don't even have to be buff right off the bat, they can just be a big talented guy, and then he could just work out for the role.

If only Christian Bale wasn't Batman, he could do it. That guy's insane. Have you seen the special features on Batman Begins? He went straight from being the Machinist to being so big he had to lose loads of weight all over again to be Batman!

He's too tall, and I don't think he'd be right for the role. But yes, the guy is incredibly ripped and seems to have very good genes. I would love to see him as Superman, but he's already taken on Batman, so doing so would get mighty confusing for some. Anywho, whoever they cast needs to be able to pull off Bane's accent, it's really important. Make him talk with an American voice or a different accent and he's ruined already.

You're damn right about the voice. Whenever I read Bane comics, I always imagine the voice of the guy who voiced him in the '90s radio adaption of Knightfall. That was great...

I always imagine his voice from the animated series everytime I think of Bane. The accent needs to be just right, and he most certainly needs to be portrayed as every bit the detective Batman is. As I've said countless times, there's much more to his character than muscles.

I can't remember the BTAS voice. I take it it was very good; a proper Latin American thing, or whatever? But good and menacing?
The main problem with the character in TAS was that he could never be as awesome as in the comics. It couldn't have that kind of violence. The whole concept of Bane's character is really dark, after all...

He kind of scared me because of how quick and agile he was. He completely owned Robin who thought he was hiding. But yes, he is meant to be much darker, and Nolan could surely handle that.

I'd also love to see Killer Croc. He's steadily becoming a favorite of mine and I think that he should be used a lot more than he currently is.

I've never been a huge fan of Croc, though I suppose I haven't read a great deal of his stories. I think I've only got the '90s two-parter (with the art of the great Kelley Jones; what the hell happened to him?) where Croc returned to the 'wet dark' swamp, I have Knightfall and the Face the Face arc. That's pretty much all the Croc I own. Is there something I'm missing? Have I failed to grasp the wonderful, subtle nuances of the character?

Could you scan those and send them my way if you get the time?

And what I envision them doing for Croc if he were used in this franchise would be to make him a little smarter than in most incarnations, and for his look have him have a skin disease which makes him look a bit abnormal, but not full blown reptilian.

I'll scan those if I ever get my scanner working, mate. Have you not read Knightfall though?

I haven't gotten to read a lot of stories as I haven't found a comic shop around here just yet.

Are you outside the USA? I live in England, and I found it pretty hellish finding a comic shop. I did find some online Comic Shop Locator and it found me a place, even though it was six years out of date or something. I have to take a 25 minute train journey to get to the local comic shop, the prices are extortianate (how did they work out that $2.99=£2.50?) and it gets its stuff sooo late. It's a pain in the arse, so I just go every month and a half to three months and spend £30-£50, but when I read the stuff, it generally feels worth it, somehow...
Also, I limit costs by getting any graphic novels/ trade paperbacks from Amazon, often via used and new. That way, I pay from £5 to £10 rather than about £10- £30 for each. 😉
