Firstly I am not a racist, I think racism is a major problem in the United States but it happens everyday and will probably happen a long time into the future as well, as stupid as it is.
Secondly I also think that giving "reparations" to ancestors of slaves is the wrong thing to do not because I'm racist but because as horrible as slavery was, it happened a long time ago and it's not like giving sums of money to people is going to magically make it disappear from our history. It's in the past forget about it.
Thirdly that post above, you say that your uncle can't get jobs because of racism, OK I guess that can happen from time to time, but seriously look at what you posted. The first job he is fired for being underage so I am under the impression that it means he lied about his age to get the job and then got fired from it when they found out. The second time it just sounds like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The third time he cussed out his boss, well no duh he is going to get fired I don't care if the guy is racist or not, you try to give your boss an opinion other than his and you can kiss your ass goodbye. The fourth time again he fell asleep on the job so he must not have cared TO much about the job if he slept while there. And last but not least he go fired because his license was suspended I.M.O if he needed his license for the job than he deserved to get fired. Don't take this post as an attack I am just saying that you are trying to pawn off the idea that your uncle can't get a job because of RACISM when in the case of your uncle, only one time out of the 5 jobs he had could he have said he got fired b/c of racism. (the time he cussed out his boss I have no idea if the boss was being racist towards him or not.)
I think reperation is a terrible idea. The evil of slavery has been changed and is in the process of healing. I think America apologized when the blood of white men was spilled fighting to free black Americans in the Civil War. Racism is slowly fading from America and will hopefully continue to do so. Helping to remove racism is the only way that true reparations can be made. Money will not help much and has yet to improve the status of African Americans. This is coming from a Canadian perspective but I do not think it is far from the truth.
I know bardock, or at least I assumed to know.
You can be against reparations and not be racist. This is my stance.
But I'm not ignorant of the current race climate in the US and there are a lot of tensions. THis is not going to magically heal itself. We have some (not all) the responsibility when minorities have 50% dropout rates. Something should be done. Education is the great equalizer.

I would never give my money for slave reparations. Cause that money would be going to lazy pieces of shit who just want a free hand out because they are crying "slavery".
As a Black man, I couldn't agree more. It was well over a century ago, and nobody alive today was a slaver themself. Those folks who demand reparations just need to get up off their ass and try going to work once in a while.

Do not compare 300 years of slavery plus another 100 years of segregation to this so called "massacre" on whites in S.A. that I never heard of. I did hear of Apartheid, though..
Well, by definition when you have a certain number killed for no good reason it is a massacre. I believe it is Mugabe who incited the black population to kill white farmers because, well, they were white.
Personally, I could care less about the Black-Skinned Americans today getting reparations. Now, if they were willing to drop the African from their reference of origin, maybe I would care. Are they African or American, the continents are a bit separate. Perhaps I'd view a need for reparation as more legit if they claimed an African country's citizenship, and not United States citizenship.
Sorry, I'm a bit sore on the subject. I did not get a job at the company I wanted because they wanted a diverse employee base, and I'm white. I also was told by a high school girlfriend's father that she needed to date people of her own color. I am also Mormon, just look at our early history with the U.S. government and tell me that my ancestors that were killed were better off than the slaves, maybe the Mormons should get reparations too. It's asinine.
