true reparation would be jumping in a time machine and fixing history so that america did not keep slaves. since that is an impropability, true reparation is a pipe dream. and i dont recall stealing anyone's land.
i believe that reparations, applied in a proper manner (not a check in the mail, but through improving their community) are an obligation of a state which forced the underclass to exist and perpetuate. its as logical as cleaning one's own wound imho.
with that said, please put a cork in the "YOU enslaved black people and YOU killed off tribes of natives" etc. its pompous and counterproductive and only serves to present yet another america-bashing artificial moral high ground. the history of all nations is stained with blood of the innocent. deal with that. what matters is that current matters are set straight, or as straight as possible. offering up a circular argument is the polar opposite of a solution, where there is no degree of reparation possible since white american people are evil and twisted and enjoy eating babies and stomping kittens.

It's times like this that I point out that the Jews would NEVER look for reparations from the Germans for what THEY endured, which in retrospect, is just as bad, if not worse. I appreciate the Jewish community being GRATEFUL FOR WHAT THEY HAVE NOW...not looking for state funding, or looking for hand outs because they think they're owed for something they never endured.

This is soo ridiculous! Salvery was bad, but its over now, so get the hell over it! How many people around the world endured slavery? Millions upon millions upon millions - and some still are. But they dont have the privilage, the time and the freedom of speach to make such stupid demands.
A lot of people were hurt in the past. India has been raped and enslaved and genocides have happened numerious times over, but somehow everyone elses suffering gets thrown in the background...

And i'm pretty sure your wrong. I'm sure most of those natives would've rather have died than be captives have a 300+ year slavery stint and 100 years of segregation afterwards. Live free or die.
Although both were big deals, Black Slavery in the U.S. was a far bigger deal than the native American massacres ever were, for many reasons.
The Native Americans suffered massacres. Black slaves suffered from massacres and more, with ongoing massacres still happening right about about 100 years after the "so called" abolishment of slaves. Hell, it was a crime punishable by death if a Black person look at a white lady just only 55 years ago. Just 55 years ago whites made it illegal for non-whites to drink from the same fountain. That's spiritual massacre. Social massacre.

But you were never a slave and neither was any other black person alive today. And there are not any white peoples alive today that was a slave owner.
So why do you think you are owed anything? How would you pay for it? Not everybody in america is either white or black. Are you going to make asians and hispanics pay for your handout too?
I lived in the US for six years and yes there is plenty of racism there but most of the racism I saw didn't come from white people.
