but then I also see that curiosity moment as Liz basically expecting/knowing jack would do the wrong thing and sarcastically saying "but seeing as you are a good man I know you would NEVER do anything that would compromise my honor" and her saying that whilst she KNEW he was about to do it meant that she was being bad..which was what she wanted..

But then I doubt she would have even started to behave like that had she not noticed him behave seriously for a moment.

SOO hard to explain lol! Seriously that scene is so bloody confusing

Let's just face it, all these scenes with Liz and Jack were carefully written and acted - and what we are witnessing and thinking must be what Disney wants us to think - or we wouldn't all be thinking it, right?
Jack and Liz both want each other - I know we've said all this before but the No Dress scene, the explaining of the compass, the marriage coversation, the Persuade me conversation, the Curiosity conversation, the compass keeps pointing to Jack when Liz holds it, there is so much mention of and focus on that compass throughout the movie, Beckett and Norrington both observing Liz's obsession with Jack. I just can't see the 3rd one going back to a Liz/Will pairing after everything that has transpired in the 2nd one. Why build up all that tension and climax with the Kiss - it's what Disney wants too - because they know that's what the majority of the audience wants. Alot of it is flirting - but they get caught up in it and we see in the end that it goes beyond flirting. It says it loud and clear when he takes the gun and she's clinging to his leg. Why would they have her do that? That to me is a significant scene. She has faith in Jack and she believes in him despite the fact that he lies to her over and over - in his Piratey way. I think she is crying in the end because she is heart broken by her decision in the end -she realises by acting on a selfish impluse (she couldn't resist - just as Jack predicted for her) she just doomed the one and only man she truly could ever love to his certain death. I don't think she's thinking about will at all.

I believe every word of that. That pretty much sums up everything in this whole thread. I dont believe she is thinking of Will either when she is crying. I believe that whole thing with Tia how she knows what Liz is thinking when she walks by her. Anyway you guys are gonna be on this for days so its hard to keep up with this thread.

Im just gonna say that everything said here so far is right and if they are surfing the net for what the audience really wants they WILL give the audience what they want or they will have a Bust film which will plumett down and they will loose money no one is going to want to buy the series if they dont get partialy what they wanted out of it in the end 🙂

It seems that its harmless flirting going on but then you see that it has deeper meaning to them the next minute..like the sexual suggestion was flirting but then Liz clearly looks like she's really happy at the thought.

Then the curiosity scene was a flirt but you can see after that she really wanted it.

Yeh she realised she over reacted at the end..but its like she just couldn't stop..she SHOULD have got what she wanted in the curiosity scene..and it was halted for that very reason..so she could do worse later because it became dangerously suppressed by the time she had her final chance to do it.

Yeh and you can see that Jack saw it as much more than just flirting..like when she walked off he let out that suprresed grunt of pleasure when she's not looking..then you see her doing the exact same thing smiling at the thought

He also did it when he saw the black spot and realised he almost got a kiss out of her but missed the chance..he was like "eeuugghh" when she walked away(she was also disapointed but covered it up)..they clearly mean more to eachother than just a little flirt.

Its as if they are both hiding from eachother once something gets heated between them😂

True - it just doesn't make any sense for Disney to turn back to Will and Liz. But again who really knows? Gore Verbinski, I would imagine. Too bad we can't get into his mind and control it ----maybe we could all gang up, step into a time machine, go back in time and steal the heart away from Norrington and Lord Beckett - so we could control everyone's destiny....Shucks don't know if that'll work we might all be fighting and minapulating each other - to see who could get to Tia Dalma first so she could cast a spell on Jack to fall in love -or at least lust - with one of us....LOL

yes, controling them and making them do what we want would be amazing. having the movie go they way we want

To be honest, I don't wish to bash the Will character, but he seems to be so passive that he's ill-suited for the feisty Elizabeth. I think this is why in Potc 1, i was put off by their "love story." She seems to be the one actively pursuing while he is always, always deferring or just hesitating a little bit. Examples from first movie: Elizabeth:"How many times must I ask you to call me Elizabeth?" and then Will: "At least once more, Miss Swann" and then later, when Will finds out that he's the blood that the pirates want, Keira takes HIS hand and puts it on HER cleavage.. and he doesn't do anything. They get close to kissing and he doesn't even go in for the kill(???) Imagine Jack passing that up. Not a chance. Then later, in the Isla de Muerta cave thingie, they have a "moment" but Will just says "Your fiance will be wanting to know youre safe" Ummm.. even Jack comments, "That was the moment, if you were waiting for one"

I just couldn't understand it. What does someone as spirited as Elizabeth see in someone so passive as Will Turner? I feel like their whole "relationship" came about because she pretty much coerced him. lol. On the other hand, you can see why she's attracted to Jack. You can't accuse HIM of being too hesitant towards the opposite sex. hah!

And for two, we know these are theories. We dont know what will happen. It is entirely probable that Will and Liz will in fact end up together. We dotn know what will happen. But we are having fun discussing it, and you have to admit, there have been some very clever and brilliant discussions for why Jack and Liz should end up together.
