I know there's been a lot of discussion about the SW parallels in terms of the Han/Leia dynamic to the Jack/Elizabeth-- really interesting. In a lot of ways, that "Curiousity" Conversation can be seen as kind of a parallel to the "My hands are dirty" scene from ESB. Hmm come to think of it, they both deal with very similar subject matter-- being a scoundrel/pirate, the discussion of the woman's possible attraction towards it. And then the carbonation scene when Leia says "I love you", Han's unnerving "I know" is relatable to Jack's "Pirate" line-- they are both revealing to the woman they love something they have known about her that she herself has been unaware of. HMMMMMM. I don't know who came up with this SW/Pirates idea but it is really working for me! I just hope that the Pirates writers will not make the same mistake of Jedi -- the romance is resolved much too quickly and easily... in Jedi, they both know they love each other and Luke's totally out of the picture, it's sweet but a little boring... Leia and Han do not have that chemistry and tension that made ESB so enjoyable.
Hopefully, there will continue to be good writing for the Jack/ Liz relationship on the POTC 3-AWE. My enjoyment factor of their romance was hugely upped by the surpassingly good writing.. thanks to Ted and Terry, no doubt...really put a nice, classier gloss to their attraction. All that verbal and emotional circling, tossing their "curiousity" about each other back and forth. There's really something to be said for the tantalizing, drawn out seduction; it is a lost art form in the films these days.
