ESB is generally accepted by fans, movie lover and critics alike as one excellent film. Not just a good SW film.

I don't care. Frankly, most fans are old f*cks who can't get over their childhood nostalgia of the OT or they are continuously looking at teh PT through the lens of the OT and hating it. ANH meant somethign as a film. Everythign thereafter was Lucas making money and marketing more shit.

I started writing a response, but you know what? I don't effing care. I'm not going to argue with your b*tchy responses and pathetic one liners right now. And I'm not going to write five pages discussion everything that is good in AOTC.

We'll start with your first point. The movie is not near long enough and Lucas needs to grow up and start realizing that the PT can't be summed up in 2 and half hours. AOTC likely should have been 3 and ROTS should have been his ROTK. He started making epics and should have started treating them as such. Then, he wouldn't cram all this shit in to a tiny frame instead of sitting his ass down and explaining things or keeping good scenes like Padme's parents house.

1. Cease that kind of insulting language. It was a civilised debate. There's no reason to start insulting.

2. I disagree with you on how to judge this movie. No need to get angry. I hand in my points why I thing it's the most inferior movie in the lot of them. You are allowed to disagree. And you don't have to write a thesis, but you can explain your point without getting so mad.

please ban this guy Queeq.Thats how he ALWAYS acts in debates when people dont agree with him.

Bus so what? Most SW films are aroud the same length. Some are likely an accurate length, some are not. Imagine waht ROTS could have been had we had CONTENT instead of interludes between fight scenes.

Also, AOTC has two plot LINES, not points.

II????? II?????????????? II is the worst of all six.

I still say that Jedi is the worst of them all. Then The phantom menace is second.

Now, love scene sucks? No sh*t. its Lucas. We have to sit through ESB where Han falls in love by getting angry and falling on Leia in a tunnel. Then its all "frozen in carbonite for a year." Good thing they got back together to have one stilted romantic scene in ROTJ. Judgins Lucas on romance is really childish, especially when he actually tried to make it an effective multi-movie relationship (even if its a creepy kid one). Again, scenes like the parents house? actually well done. And while the love scene always sucks and the dialogue is as horrible as ANH, at least Anakin is actually conflicted about the whole thing.

Imagine that! Showing a jedi actually dealing with problems of morality, destiny, struggling to be a better person! WOW! Jedi aren't jsut old men hiding in caves.

Just because I'm not a retarded 9-11 consipracy theorist doesn't mean I should be banned. [/B][/QUOTE]

see thats why you SHOULD be banned is your childish comments like that you make. 🙄 your a 9/11 COINCIDENCE theorist afraid of the truth is what you are. 😛 deny it all you want your only fooling yourself.

Clone army? Simple statement? Come on. Its bad enought that Yoda just shows up on Geonosis. Any fool can realize that you just dont take and use the army left on your doorstep, espeically when it was created illegally. It required the plotline it did and gave us the best scenes in the film. The clones are the first time that the preqels really start to connect the the OT.

Detective story? Yes. IMAGINE THAT. All the the OT is "run away" or "attack." TPM is all "royal bodyguard." AOTC what do we see? Chasing fugitives through the streets. Hostile investigations. Capture. Rescue. Wow, sorry all those plotlines are so boring. Finally we get to see Jedi being Jedi and you're bored?

Sifo-Dyas was one of Lucas' royal ****-ups. So what? It still shows that the Jedi are overconfident (that uptight librarian, though I think I know what she's feeling, because I'm feeling it right now). The Jedi aren't perfect...Dooku comes in here too. WOW. imagine that. Jedi start falling from thier shiny bright perch on high. Don't get lost in the moral greyness. We must now abaondon our 5-year-old interpretation of the universe as made up of good people and bad people.

adn the Clone army plot? FINALLY he addresses where somehting CAME from. and along the way? We get Jango-Kenobi in the effing rain which has to be the best single duel sequence in Star Wars, We get the Geonosis ring battle which is the best space duel in Star Wars, far expanding and exceeding on ESB's asteroid chase, then we get the Geonosis Arena battle which, while a little retarded actually makes som effort to reveal somehtign about the three protags. Then we get Geonosis, which I don't even need to get into.

Wahts next? kenobi and Skywalker bickering. First off, I bicker with my friends all teh effing time. Secondly, if Han and Leia bickering can be enough for them to fall in love, why the hell isn't it enough for a friendship? Besides. Its better than "Yes, Master" "Of course, Master" in TPM. Besides, we actually see Anaking questioning his Jedi status and what it means to be a Jedi. WOW. THAT isn't character depth or important to the future....

Anakin whiny? yeah, no shit. Only a whiny brat could betray everyhting he knows for a selfish reason. Least hes not "But all my FRIENDS have already gone" and "UNCLO OWWWWEN!" and "BLARGH...POWER CONVERTERS" and shit.

Jango is far mor interesting the Dooku. And wow...we finally get the Mando-Jedi fight we've always wanted. We finally se anoher sith use lightining, Yoda grows some cajones, and Dooku actually sets up a model for Anakin (a jedi grown disillusinoed with the order seeking more power but really failing to get it). Its such a shame that everone else is so boring too, from "I can't keep my pants up" Dex to "die with a smile on my face" Fisto. Yeah, and while we're at it, lets actually recognize female Jedi. Yup, all of that was AOTC.

So what else? AOTC is the first film that really shows depth and breadth in environments and species. Kamino and Geonosis are equisitly designed in every respect. We finally get into the underbelly of Coruscant and see the filth beneath the glittering scrapers of TPM. We run through the streets and sit on cargo transports eating pancakes. We get to see many aspects of Jedi life, from younglings through masters prowling the halls. We see what jedi DO on a daily basis and how they do it. We also see that the Republic and the Jedi Order are crumbling together. The Jedi are old and arrogant...the Republic beuracratic and weak. The Sith/CIS are a viable alternative and we actually see them sitting in the Jedi's backyard. We see the manipulation, the literal rise of the Empire from clones to Star Destroyers to the Death Star itself. The Jedi, FINALLY, after 4 episodes are given real character. The Star Wars universe has some real and gritty depth to it again. AOTC doesnt' set up ROTS, it sets up the SAGA. We're no longer on our TPM honeymoon. We've finally entered the grit of Star Wars.

And I thought you weren't going to write a thesis, dr. Alliance... 😉

Yeah, thats how much you've ticked me off...

Thanks for the compliment. 😈

But I still think your clone love clouds your judgement. 😉
You seem to like exposition, while that is the whole problem both in TPM and even more so in AOTC: the exposition gets in the way of the narrative.

i personally found TPM (aside from a huge overuseage of Jar-Jar) the best of the prequel trilogy

I thought TPM was extremely boring. When AOTC came out, I thought: finally, a lot better... SW is getting back. Then ROTS came out and for the first time it felt like the OT again... but I was amazed about the total obsoleteness of AOTC that TPM gained my approval. But I still think with all the Senate stuff and taxation of trade routes, it's pretty boring. And JarJar doesn't make things better.

If it was really based on clones, why don't I like ROTS better? More clones, more variety, bigger roles, and throughout the entire film?

Exposition is part of the narrative. I enjoy depth in films, you just get lost in it. Lucas has always done crappy dialogue, crappy acting, crappy love scenes, and crappy plots (space slug? COME ON). AOTC is no exception, but its everything that is great about Star Wars. Its the nexus of the Saga.

In some ways I wish we could erase history, I could have never seen star wars, and then watch the saga straight trough with no preconceptions.

I don't get lost in depth. I think AOTC is not bringing it well. One of such examples: one of the most excellent plot points in AOTC is that Dooky rallies all the major power factions in the universe: Banking Clan, Trade Federation, Techno Union etc. He unites to ultimately destroy them with Clones. That was very clever. But I think Lucas hides this so much that it becomes irrelevant. No average viewer will ever get this.

I liked the AOTC novel... I think the movie sucked in comparison. It's rather common that the book is better than the movie, but when the book is based on the movie, it's rather stupid.
