What I meant was that you can't just watch Ep. 1 and then Ep. 3., it is still needed for the start of the Clone Wars, showing the relationship between OB1 and him.

Oh yeah, that they hated each other's guts.

Point is, AOTC takes almost 2,5 hours to tell two vital plot points. THat is way too little to justify a movie of that length. They should have made ROTS into two movies, incorporating Anakin falling in love with PAdme and losing his mother.

And showing at least something more than a thank-you-master line to show that Anakin and OB1 were 'good friends'. THat would have upped the drama of the final battle a bit more.

How did you get that they hated each other at all?

And I agree, I have said so before, it is too long to tell us so little, but no matter what you do, you cannot go from Ep. 1 to Ep. 3 with no information from Ep. 2.

ROTS into two movies would have been better, show more between OB1 and Anakin, but I still felt that the final battle was done well, but could have been done better.

I agree with not stepping from Ep1 to Ep3 without Ep2... but EP 2 is such a weirdly loooooong step.

You never noticed how totally unpleasant OB1 and Anakin are to each other? All the y do is ***** and moan at each other. Where did the ANH line come from: "And he was a good friend."? I never saw that in the movies. Anakin was no good friend at all, all he did was ***** and moan and do his duty at times.

Good, that was all my point was.

Well, even after he was told not to, he went to save OB1 at Geonosis, almost fought Dooku together...from the beginning of ROTS, we can tell in the space fight scene that they work well together, understanding each other and whatnots, was going to carry him off the ship after beating Dooku, i can see a nice friendship there.

Really? Strange concept of friendship.
Anakin completely disboeys OB1 in everything, hates him for holding him down and OB1 accuses Anakin of arrogance to the Council. Some friendship.

He disobeys him because he is still arrogant and does what he thinks is good, even if it goes against what his master says, he still respects OB1 and is why he considers it first and not just totally disregards it.
OB1 accuses him of arrogance? I am pretty sure everyone could see his arrogance anyways.

Well, there ya go. OB1 doesn't like it, Anakin doesn't like OB1. And just respect doesn't mean 'good friendship'.

With a Master/Apprentice relationship, you would have to be good friends, you do everything together.

I never saw it.

Apparently it is to be assumed.

Yes it is. Too bad GL doesn't give us a single clue as to why OB1 claims Anakin to be 'a good friend' in ANH. Well, not AOTC at least where most of their friendship should have been seen.

Yes, he should have shown more of their friendship, but when I watched the movies, I had just made the assumption and never bothered me until you brought it up.

It did to me. Especially because of Alec Guinness' great performance and delivery of that line. It had a lot of pain in it, a great loss. Seeing AOTC and even ROTS for taht matter, I felt more like "Good riddens".

And I still felt that there was a lot of emotion in the dual in ROTS between the two, to me again it was assumed that they were best friends and it wasn't done great in the movies to show that but they did not too bad I thought.

So, I think I still prefer my way, I got more out of it by assuming then you did by needing more to be shown.

There was emotion in the ROTS duel... but where did it come from? You can't really feel what Ob1 is feeling. You assume they were friends but wouldn't it have been nice if we could have felt some of that friendship ourselves. To understand OB1 and feel with him when he has to leave Anakin like that. That, to MHO is GL's failure.

Yes, it would be very nice to show more, I have said so, but I was still able to get a fair amount out of what was shown.

THen you are happy with little.

If that little is able to get the point across anyways...then yes.

Films are not just there to get points across or just to give plain bits of info. They should offer an experience that INVOLVES the viewer. THe PT fails at doing that quite often. This is one such case.
