When those points amount to a much smaller part of the movie that is explained later in a sequel, then yes, do only give enough to get the point across and focus on the rest. This is just a generalization for movies, not SW in particular. But it still fits in with Star Wars, but also the PT misses quite a bit.

All I'm saying is using these plot points JUST to get the point across is a great example of a major MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

Missed opportunity?! For what?

In ANH, it is explained, even if you couldn't get the hints in the PT, that they were really good friends.

Yeah, but with that remark I had to imagine their friendship for three whole movies.

I still want to know when this missed opportunity was.
It didn't need to be imagined, they were master/apprentice, they have to be good friends, they do everything together, it kinda goes hand in hand.

The MOVIES were the missed opportunites to make the drama of the loss of Anakin into a real drama!

And no, it doesn't go hand-in-hand because looking at AOTC Anakin is a suly brat that hates his Master's guts and OB1 doesn't trust Anakin. Theye were quite different from the way QGJ and OB1 were.

There is absolutely no way you can go that far...he definately does not hate his master's guts, he has different views on how to do things, which OB1 does not approve of. And OB1 obviously trusts him or else he would have made a much bigger deal about his first mission alone protecting Padme.

And there friendship must have been good, in ROTS, when OB1 is out cold, Anakin still brings him back even after Palpy tells him not to even though they may not make it. "his fate will be the same as ours"

There you go again. We need future evidence to support the claim taht they were good friends. The fact that we never see or experience why that friendship was so great bothers me greatly. Because if it was so great that we have to hear about it in three (OT) movies, why did we never see it?

It should have been shown, I do agree with you, I am just arguing on GL's side.

It should not bother you this much or that greatly, it can be easily assumed of their friendship status...they went through the clone wars together...and they were master/apprentice...GL probably felt it was enough.

He did. But he is wrong. Just like he mainly showed us an unsympathetic Anakin, not the hero we could cheer for. Like we did with Luke. Despite his extreme preferences for endless repeating themes, he never quite got Anakin like Luke or vice versa.

Maybe he went for a different approach. He thought he did put enough, he had Anakin seem more human then other Jedi/characters, he felt emotion...hate, fear, revenge, etc. and had him get married, so perhaps he thought people would connect with him more.

He thought wrong. Nobody likes a sulky brat.

Not totally wrong apparently as you are still the only one I have heard to complain.

Really? So who likes Anakin?

I am sure there must be some people out there...although I would take him over Luke.

You would? Why?

Luke has always...just...bothered me...his whining is more prominent with me than Anakin's and Anakin was Darth Vader...and Darth Vader=Badass.

No, Anakin=Luke... until he turns Vader.

But Luke improved.

Anakin=/=Luke. Luke just bugs me is all.

GL repeating style does actually make that equation. Luke=Anakin with different choices.
