A canon source is one that is regarded as being 'in continuity'. In the example of Star Trek; instances from the series and movies can be used, but books are definitely out. Comic book crossovers are usually unusable as they ignore common sense most of the time (DC vs. Marvel is certainly unusable in some cases in our debates!).
Does the fact that its old make it non-canon? No. Furthermore even if its old the fact that present day Spiderman said the samething reinforces the point.

Ok explain how its faster, when the only differences are:
1. Spiderman is bouncing off walls. Cap does not have any walls to bounce off.
2. Spiderman is carrying MJ, which does not matter because he has superhuman strength. That is partially a strength feat. In fact eventhough speed is involved alot of it has to do with strength. Spiderman is using his strength to bounce off walls so fast that they can get a bead. I dont think DD could bunce off two walls, smash through a window while carrying a woman, but he could probably do it without carrying anybody.....and you know what...damn Spiderman really jumped far I dont think DD or Cap could jump that far. It was almost like Spiderman was flying.
So that is a strength + reflexes feat while my example is pure reflexes.

Anybody who reads comics, knows this thing called "retcon". It happens all the time. I don't like it very much, but I guess we have to live with it.
There's not only this "retcon" thing, but characters and abilities also evolve. Spider-Man has gained a hell of a let more experience, and has received two upgrades.
